Update: Restaurant Kicked Out Antifa, Allowed Ted Cruz To Finish Meal

Like Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kirstjen Nielsen before him, Ted Cruz and his wife Heidi were harassed by a mob of left-wing protesters while trying to eat dinner on Monday. An Antifa group called “Smash Racism DC” was responsible for the harassment, and posted a now-viral video to twitter documenting the harassment. Protesters could be heard chanting that “fascists are not welcome.”

Ironically, had it been a group of right-wingers protesting a Latino Democrat Senator while he tried to eat dinner, these very same people at “Smash Racism DC” would decry the racism of it. Apparently, the same standard doesn’t apply when it’s Cruz being harassed.

This story is a bit different from the harassment of Sanders and Nielsen, because the restaurant owners (who have hosted no shortage of famous Democrat politicians at their restaurant) stood up for Cruz, and didn’t allow mob rule to win. In a statement, chief and owner Fabio Trabocchi made it clear that contrary to the Antifa narrative, Senator Cruz and his wife Heidi were able to finish their meal in peace once the protesters were removed from the restaurant. “Per our policy for events of this nature, police were called and the guest escorted to privacy,” Trabocchi wrote. “When the situation resolved a few minutes later, our guests returned to thank the staff for their support and to finish their exceptional meal,” he added.

And my personal favorite line: “Chef Favio believes politics – like elbows – are best left off the dining table and we welcome everyone.”

The Antifa protesters are apparently just as effective at protesting as they are at getting full-time jobs.

It’s truly sad that Cruz is just the latest in what will inevitably be a string of dozens of such disruptions because the Democrat establishment is actively encouraging such harassment. Maxine Waters openly encourages her supporters to harass Trump supporters and says that “The lying president said that I had threatened all of his constituents…I did not threaten his constituents, his supporters. I do that all the time, but I didn’t do it that time!”

Her fellow Democrat, Spartacus Booker, tells his supporters to “get up in the face” of Republican Congressmen.

The left lost this battle – hopefully other restaurants share their backbone in the future.
