Ted Cruz Got Booted Off Stage at a Religious Conference

A miscommunication by event organizers led to Senator Ted Cruz getting unceremoniously booted off stage mid-speech at the Faith and Freedom conference in Washington.

Cruz was roughly nine minutes into a fairly well-received speech when the music hit and an announcer boomed the name of the next speaker.

Confused, Cruz threw up his hands as if to ask ‘what’s going on?’ He then left the stage, waving to the crowd as they cheered his appearance.

Earlier in the day, both Cruz and conference organizers were thrilled to have the senator making an appearance.

“Excited,” just maybe not THAT excited.

We kid.

Via Business Insider:

Sen. Ted Cruz was cut off while addressing an enthusiastic audience at the annual Faith & Freedom Coalition conference in Washington, DC on Thursday.

“Thank you for your prayers, thank you for your passion, thank you for your time, thank you for your energy, thank you for speaking out and working to retake our nation,” Cruz continued.

Music then came over the sound system and a voice introduced the following speaker, Faith & Freedom Coalition southern regional director Virginia Galloway. As Galloway walked onto the stage, Cruz looked around, apparently confused and threw up his hands. He then waved and exited the stage to cheers.

“Sen. Cruz had not completed his remarks when a member of the audio-visual team mistakenly announced the next speaker,” Lance Lemmonds, a spokesperson for the Faith and Freedom Coalition, explained.

“We sincerely apologize to Sen. Cruz, who is a great friend of this organization and people of faith across the country.”

Cruz opened his speech with a pronouncement that earned him raucous cheers and should have guaranteed a spot on the stage for as long as he wanted.

“It is June of 2017, and Hillary Clinton is not the president of the United States,” he announced.

And thank God for that.
