Liberals Hate Obama Quotes When Attributed to Trump

How much of the average person’s political beliefs are more based on opposing “the other guys” than actual holding positions of their own?

That appeared to be the case, at least according to a piece of reporting we published prior to President Trump’s first State of the Union address. In it, Campus Reform’s Cabot Philips visited New York University to get the students’ opinions on Trump’s first SOTU – the day before it happened.

Despite the speech still being non-existent, the liberal student body of NYU overwhelmingly opposed it, with students going as far as to call it racist (though in all fairness, that really doesn’t say much anymore). I can only wonder what they thought to themselves the next day upon realizing the speech hadn’t yet occurred.

Wait no longer – because another reporter took up the mantle of polling liberals post-SOTU, and the results weren’t much different. In fact, despite the fact that those questioned this time did actually watch Trump’s speech, their answers were a reminder that people truly remember only what they want to hear. In the case of Trump, it didn’t actually matter what he said. Liberals just knew they disagreed with it.

So on that note, what if you quoted Barack Obama to them, and told them it was a quote from Trump’s speech? Would they recognize the statement as one Trump never made during his address? Would the left-leaning nature of Obama’s statements make the liberals more inclined to agree with them, even while they were under the impression that Trump was the source of the quotes?

Of course not!

Campus Reform is back, this time at NYC’s John John College. The results were about as depressing as you’d expect, despite the fact that 75 percent of Americans approved the speech.

We present to you, the other 25 percent:
