Democrat Representatives Cori Bush and Ayanna Pressley, members of the so-called ‘Squad,’ were seen in a tearful embrace following news of the verdict in the Derek Chauvin murder trial.

“The moment we heard the verdict, we held each other,” Bush tweeted shortly after a jury found Chauvin guilty on all counts in the death of George Floyd.

“This feeling is not easy,” the Missouri Representative added. “But all of us will carry each other through this.”

She posted a video in which she and Pressley, a Representative from Massachusetts, could be seen weeping at the news of Chauvin’s conviction.

Pressley added her thoughts on social media tweeting, “Black men, I love you, and you deserve to grow old.”

Of the exchange with Bush, she wrote, “So very grateful this justice seeker is my sister [and] colleague. There was so much exchanged in this sisterly embrace.”

Cori Bush, Ayanna Pressley Not Satisfied Chauvin Verdict

Despite the tearful embrace and obvious elation that Chauvin was convicted by the jury, Cori Bush said the news didn’t amount to “justice.”

“This was accountability, but it’s not yet justice,” Bush said. “Justice for us is saving lives.”

Bush is on record as not only wanting to defund the police, like many of her fellow ‘Squad’ members, but would also like to see the Pentagon defunded.

She went on to claim the Chauvin trial had been “nothing short of a traumatizing,” adding it was a “painful and gut-wrenching reminder of how difficult it is to hold police accountable when they murder members of our community.”

This, despite the fact the system clearly worked – Chauvin was held accountable for his actions.

Pressley, likewise, was not impressed with the verdict despite her tears.

“Despite today’s guilty verdict, this system can never deliver true justice for George Floyd and his family,” she said in a statement. “True justice would be George Floyd, alive today, at home with his fiancé, children, and siblings.”

Black Lives Matter Says This Isn’t Justice

Black Lives Matter seemingly agrees with Cori Bush and Ayanna Pressley that the Chauvin verdict is not an example of justice.

The organization tweeted their disdain for the length of time that the court process took in delivering a verdict, seemingly hinting that a trial by a jury of Chauvin’s peers should never have been granted.

“330 days to confirm what we already knew,” they tweeted. “For a murder witnessed by millions.”

“This isn’t proof the system works,” the group continued on their official Twitter page. “It’s proof of how broken it is.”

“Because it took us this long, and this much attention,” the statement continued. “Until we have a world where our communities can thrive free from fear, there will be no justice.”

Aside from Bush and Pressley being moved to tears, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi apparently found her faith again, looking up to the heavens following the Chauvin verdict and thanking George Floyd for ‘sacrificing’ his life.

Other Squad members echoed the theme of Cori Bush and Ayanna Pressley that they were not satisfied with the outcome of the Chauvin trial.

“This verdict is relief [and] accountability for the murder of George Floyd,” writes Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI). “But the fight for justice continues.”

Tlaib recently called for “no more policing” in America, a concept so far afield that Pelosi tried to distance herself from them.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) also vented that she didn’t view the Chauvin verdict as “justice.”

AOC, as she is known, tweeted that “a family had to lose a son, brother and father; that a teenage girl had to film and post a murder, that millions across the country had to organize and march just for George Floyd to be seen and valued is not justice.”
