Breaking news this Tuesday morning as reports of a police shooting are coming out of a city in South Carolina.

The incident occurred in the city of York, which is only 25 miles southwest of Charlotte, a major metropolitan area within the state. Four officers in total were shot, including one K-9 officer.

The incident occurred early this morning, after officers responded to a domestic disturbance call last night. When officers arrived to inspect the situation at the home, the suspect fled the scene, at which point the K-9 was released to track him down. At about 1:30 AM, the K-9 officer found the suspect, who proceeded to fire on the dog. At about 3 AM, the other officers located the suspect in nearby woods. That’s when three of the law enforcement officials were shot, as the suspect opened fire on the officers upon being discovered.

The shooter, 47-year-old man Christian Thomas McCall, was taken into custody after a shootout with police. He reportedly suffered gunshot wounds in the confrontation with police.

The alleged gunman, identified as Christian Thomas McCall, 47, was arrested. He suffered gunshot wounds while in the crossfire, police said.

“The sheriff’s office can really use your prayers and your thoughts,” York County Sheriff’s spokesman Trent Faris said about the wounded officers.

Faris is definitely right. These officers could use our prayers at this time. Our police officers put their lives on the line every day to protect us from harm. It’s always a tragedy when officers are shot in the line of duty, especially K-9 officers, who are trained to seek out criminals.

The names of the injured officers and the extent of their injuries have not been released yet.
