Selena Gomez Decries ‘Kids in Cages’ But Ignores That it Began Under OBAMA

Singer Selena Gomez recently blasted the Trump administration to her 150 million-plus Instagram followers over immigration policies that were also pursued by the Obama administration.

“Kids in cages! Sleeping on concrete floors with aluminum blankets! No access to simple dignities! How is this still happening???” the actress asked.

“It’s absolutely inhumane to treat anyone like this let alone children. I can’t even imagine what they are going through. We need to get this to finally stop!” Gomez continued, also asking followers to contact their representatives.

“Don’t stay silent on this human rights issue- please call your reps 202.224.3121 #CloseTheCamps#FamilesBelongTogether,” she added.

This Was Obama’s Policy

No matter your opinion on this policy, this was obviously directed at President Trump.

Yet, no mention of the fact that this also happened under President Barack Obama.

Breitbart News reports:

For weeks, the establishment media has referred to the detention facilities where federal immigration officials are holding child border crossers as “cages” and one Senate Democrat even called the facilities “dog kennels.”

CBS News, Time MagazineBusiness InsiderNBC News, and their counterparts in the Democratic Party have continuously claimed migrant children are being held in cages, specifically pointing to photos from a detention facility in McAllen, Texas. These same barriers, though, were used in that McAllen detention facility under President Obama when the establishment media was silent on the issue.

Trump made this point in April, telling reporters,  “Take a look. The press knows it. You know it. We all know it.”

“Those cages that were shown, I think they were very inappropriate, they were built by President Obama’s administration,” he said. “Not by Trump. I’m the one that stopped it. President Obama had child separation.”

Again, note what Trump said: “I’m the one that stopped it.”

How many Democrat lawmakers or Hollywood celebrities railed against “kids in cages” during Obama’s tenure?

NONE.

If you will recall, which the left won’t, last year President Trump signed an executive order to end family separation on the U.S.-Mexico border.

“We’re going to have strong, very strong borders, but we’re going to keep the families together,” Trump said last June. “I didn’t like the sight or the feeling of families being separated.”

But don’t expect Selena Gomez or any other celebrity to acknowledge this. They care far more about targeting the president than this issue–or any other.
