Earlier today, we reported that the legendary conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh had been diagnosed with advanced-stage lung cancer. Now, hours laster, Fox News host Sean Hannity is reacting to the news.

“It just hit me like a dime, like a ton of bricks, like a Mack truck — whatever cliche you want to use, that’s it,” Hannity said on his own radio show, according to Fox News.

Hannity went on to say that he has known Limbaugh, 69, and his family for years and that they are “incredibly brave” people.

“[Rush was] so incredibly stoic and courageous [in his announcement], because like everything else he’s ever done in his career, he’s inspiring,” he continued.

Limbaugh shocked everyone when he ended his show on Monday by revealing the diagnosis.

“It’s a struggle for me because I had to inform my staff earlier today,” the famous conservative said. “I can’t help but feel that I’m letting everybody down. The upshot is that I have been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.”

“I told the staff today that I have a deeply personal relationship with God that I do not proselytize about, but I do, and I have been working that relationship tremendously,” Limbaugh added. “I am, at the moment, experiencing zero symptoms.”

During his radio show today, Hannity credited Limbaugh with helping him start his career. He explained that it was a huge break for him when Limbaugh asked him to substitute host the “Rush Limbaugh Show,” saying that he would not be where he is today without him.

“We are praying for a speedy recovery — and for years more of Excellence in Broadcasting,” he said, referring to Limbaugh’s “EIB Network” tag. “It’s deeply personal.”

Hannity concluded by saying that Limbaugh also helped kickstart the careers of other famous conservatives like Mark Levin.

“Everybody that knows what you’ve done — how you’ve taken a lot of hits over the years, standing up for this country, our Constitution, your belief in God [and] your belief in life, you fighting fights every single solitary day to make this a more perfect union, a better country … we’re all praying for you,” he said.

It’s impossible to imaging the world of conservative media without Limbaugh. Please join us in saying a prayer for his full recovery.
