Scarborough Compares Trump to Mussolini For Wanting To Reopen Economy

Scarborough Mussolini Trump

MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough on Tuesday said President Donald Trump was behaving like an authoritarian, even comparing him to fascist Italian dictator Benito Mussolini for trying to reopen the American economy.

Joe Torches Trump for Saying the President Has ‘Total Authority’

Scarborough noted that the President had said prior that he believed he has “total authority,” which the MSNBC host described as a “full Mussolini thing.” Scarborough complained that Trump goes “back and forth” when it comes to opening the U.S. up again.

“I counted three or four sirs yesterday in the press conference that I didn’t want to watch,” Scarborough stated. “You wonder if the guy like walks to the helicopter and he sees a frog, and he goes, the frog said, ‘Sir, sir, you sure look tall today.’ Where does he get all the sirs from? He wouldn’t even say, ‘Isn’t that something that the frog is talking?’”

“But how would you like to be one of these lackeys that are following Donald Trump?” the host continued. “Because think about it. If you’re a Trump lackey and you have to follow everything he says, first you start by saying it’s a hoax, that it’s being blown up and blown out of proportion.”

Scarborough accuses Trump of doing the ‘full Mussolini thing’

“And I know, there was a certain lackey that was attacking me for using the 1 to 2 million number,” Scarborough said. “Then, of course, Donald Trump used it, like, two days later — felt really sorry for him. But just the last week or two, Trump talks about, ‘I have total authority.’”

“He does the full Mussolini thing,” Scarborough said. “Really, it’s pretty incredible, that an American president does the full Mussolini thing, but he does.”

“He just keeps going back and forth and back and forth — I guess, I don’t know why, so he can’t ever be nailed down by people,” he added. “The problem is, he just weakens his case every day.”

Scarborough Has Compared Trump to Mussolini Before

This is not the first time Scarborough has compared Trump to Mussolini, as evidenced by these tweets from years’ past.

One question for Scarborough: It wasn’t long ago that Trump’s critics were bashing him for not fully implementing the Defense Production Act via executive order, which some might consider an “authoritarian” move.

Does the anti-Trump crowd really hate authoritarianism? Or will just any angle to bash the President do?
