During Tuesday’s White House press briefing, ABC’s Jonathan Karl interrogated Sarah Huckabee Sanders over Donald Trump’s response to Russian efforts to meddle in the 2016 election.
While Robert Mueller’s probe uncovered evidence of minor Russian meddling in the election (spreading disinformation about both campaigns), it didn’t find any involvement on the part of Donald Trump. Despite that, Karl still questioned Sanders over Trump not taking action against Russian meddling that occurred when Barack Obama was president.
According to the Daily Caller,
Karl argued that though the president had been gloating on Twitter about how Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Friday indictment of 13 Russian nationals apparently exonerated the Trump campaign of collusion, he has done little prevent future attempts to influence American elections.
“You just agreed that the evidence is there that the Russians interfered in our election,” Karl continued. “Doesn’t he agree that the evidence is there?”
Karl then asked “This investigation is obviously about what Russia did, and this raises the question — now that you’ve said the president agrees, the national security adviser says the evidence is incontrovertible — what is the president going to do about it? What is he specifically doing about the fact that the Russia interfered with our election and has every intention, we are told, of doing it again? What is he doing about it?”
“He has been tougher on Russia in the first year than Obama was in eight years combined,” Sanders fired back. “He has imposed sanctions, he’s taken away properties, he’s rebuilt our military. He has done a number of things to put pressure on Russia and be tough on Russia. Just last week there was an incident that will be reported in the coming days in an another way this president was tough on Russia.”

Was that epic or what? Sanders put Karl in his place, big time. It’s incontrovertible that Trump is tougher on Russia than Obama, who sat idly by as Russians bought a bunch of Facebook ads for the purpose of agitating voters.
