Sanders Gets Heat From Nevada Unions On Socialized Healthcare

Only he and Warren would make the U.S. healthcare system resemble that of Cuba.

Fox News is reporting that Bernie Sanders is not getting a pleasant reception from labor unions in Nevada prior to the Democratic caucuses there on the 22nd of this month.

Their specific bone of contention is that his proposed government run healthcare system would ruin years of painstaking labor negotiations that have brought various unions healthcare plans that they want to keep.

Sanders has accused unions that disagree with his plan of buckling under to corporate pressure.

“It’s disappointing that Senator Sanders’ supporters have viciously attacked the Culinary Union and working families in Nevada simply because our union has provided facts on what certain health care proposals might do to take away the system of care we have built over eight decades,” said Geoconda Argüello-Kline of Culinary Union Local 226 last week.

Sanders’ rivals for the Democratic nomination, most of whom do not agree with his socialized healthcare plan, have gone on the attack.

“I stand with [Culinary 226] and their fight for better wages, world-class health care, and the American Dream for working and immigrant families. No one should ever attack them for fighting and delivering for their members,” recently said Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

Las Vegas oddsmakers have Buttigieg the current favorite to come out on top in the Nevada caucuses.

But some unions stand with Sanders. Among them the hard left SEIU. “The debate over whether working Americans need ‘Medicare-for-all’ or union-negotiated health benefits is a false choice,” said Grace Vergara-Mactal, of SEIU 1107.

“While some working people have good health care plans through their jobs, many do not. Access to quality health care shouldn’t be based on luck, it should be a right. SEIU members support all proposals that will expand health care to millions more working people and their families, as ‘Medicare-for-all’ will.”

Sanders cannot afford to lose union support at this juncture, especially as his fate on Super Tuesday may deal his campaign a harsh blow.
