Limbaugh Warns the GOP Over Kavanaugh Treatment

The circus surrounding Brett Kavanaugh is never going to end, is it?

Thus far, not a single accuser has produced a witness that corroborates their story. In fact, all of the named witnesses have denied the accusers’ account of events, exonerating Kavanaugh. The first (and main) accuser, Christine Ford, has done everything she possibly can to delay testifying. She’s demanded an FBI investigation (after the FBI said they wouldn’t investigate), said she can’t come to D.C. to testify because she’s afraid of flying (but used to work in Hawaii, and I’m 100% certain she didn’t drive there), and is now demanding concessions that no one testifying under oath has been granted before.

It’s obvious to everyone, regardless of their political ideology, that the claims against Kavanaugh are bogus. Only 25% of women and 28% of men find Ford’s claims credible, and that’s from a Huffington Post poll. When everyone right, left, and center finds the allegations bogus, what’s the point in further delaying the confirmation vote on Kavanaugh?

There is none, and as Rush Limbaugh is wisely warning Republicans, further delaying will only hurt them, not help them. “So Chairman Grassley has a job to do here, because, if he gives Democrats enough time, they’ll produce a woman claiming to be Kavanaugh’s secret Russian wife who Trump paid to urinate on that bed in Moscow,” said Limbaugh on his show Monday.

“If the Republicans do not get this vote taken and have Kavanaugh confirmed, you can kiss the midterms goodbye. You can kiss goodbye holding the House and you can kiss goodbye holding the Senate. Because whatever the Democrats think of their base, the one thing I know that if you guys fold on this and cave and keep bending over backwards.”

While Republicans have dominated Democrats this midterm cycle when it comes to fundraising, Democrats do have a unique advantage in that a historic number of Republicans are retiring, and thus not seeking re-election. Since incumbents always have a major advantage against their challengers, those Republicans cost their party that edge. As things are today, the polling indicates that Democrats will re-take the House, while Republicans will maintain the Senate.

According to the betting odds from PredictIt, there’s a 69% chance that Republicans will control the Senate after the midterms, and a 67% chance Democrats will control the House. Both statistics are as of September 25th.

Maintaining the Senate will allow Republicans to avoid pointless impeachment proceedings that Democrats would inevitably bring forward if they were to regain a majority, and it also prevents them from blocking Kavanaugh’s nomination.

Maybe if Republicans finally show some backbone, the American public will let them keep the House too.
