The early members are in, and media outlets across America are breathlessly reporting that ABC’s hit reboot of ‘Roseanne” lost 3 million viewers this week.
Now, for the first time since the show’s record-breaking debut, it’s no longer the top show on television.
But that’s not the whole story. The pro-Trump ABC comedy still had 10.3 million viewers and a 2.5 rating among adults 18-49, with respective spills of 23 and 26 percent.
But as many fans were quick to point out on Twitter, it was airing during the Season finale of “NCIS”:
NCIS has 3 more episodes before its season finale.

That's because NCIS was series finale

Hollywood Reporter notes that “Roseanne’s” status as the top broadcast series is not in danger, regardless of dips. With an average 6.1 rating among adults ages 18 to 49, that still outsizes NBC’s most popular show “This is Us” by 30 percent. In that demographic, “Roseanne” also beat “NCIS” for live telecasts.
It’s also important to note just how difficult it is to calculate “Roseanne’s” ratings with so many platforms available. Between DVR recording and streaming online via Hulu or ABC.com, millions of viewers still haven’t tuned in to watch this week’s episode… but they eventually will. Gone are the days of people waiting to watch live broadcasts, as modern technology has made television viewing more convenient.
The show remains extraordinarily popular and has a dedicated, loyal fan base. That’s because after ABC canceled Tim Allen’s “Last Man Standing,” “Roseanne” is the only show that presents a pro-Trump point of view. Millions of Americans voted for President Donald J. Trump, and now those voters have an enjoyable, relatable comedy to watch with their family.
Clearly, Roseanne and Dan Conner are here to stay.
