YouTube Censors and Demonetizes Ron Paul

When YouTube was launched, it was a platform by creators, for creators.

Now, a decade later, the popular website is saying “bye creators.”

As part of an effort to make their site more “advertiser friendly” (which is their way of saying “more politically correct”) YouTube has released content guidelines that essentially guarantee that anyone who talks about a controversial issue, or any topic that isn’t approved by liberal dogma, will be ineligible to monetize their channel.

For the past few months, I’ve seen my friends who run sizable channels bemoan their lack of ad revenue, which has fallen by over 50 percent. And it would appear that nobody is off limits for demonetization, as even former presidential candidates like Ron Paul are deemed too “controversial.”

Former US Congressman Ron Paul has joined a growing list of independent political journalists and commentators who’re being economically punished by YouTube despite producing videos that routinely receive hundreds of thousands of views.

In a tweet published Saturday, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange tweeted a screenshot of Paul’s “Liberty Report” page showing that his videos had been labeled “not suitable” for all advertisers by YouTube’s content arbiters.

H/T Zero Hedge

You may agree or disagree with Ron Paul, but he was a respected presidential candidate. There’s no reason why his videos should be censored. Either this was negligent oversight on YouTube’s part or it points to something more pernicious.

You’d think that of all the content YouTube targets, perhaps the ISIS propaganda widely available for viewing on their website would be first? Or perhaps they would delete the lectures of the late al-Qaeda recruiter Anwar al-Awlaki?

Apparently that’s not a priority.

For shame, YouTube.

Think this is more censorship of conservatives and libertarians? If so, share this story on Facebook and Twitter to show others that you are being silenced!
