Republican National Committee Raises Record Funds

The leadership of the Democrat National Committee has been a comedy of errors over the past year and a half – and not much has changed during the liberal organization’s changes in leadership.

There was Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who had to step down amidst ethics concerns, and was immediately hired by the Clinton campaign. Schultz was replaced by Donna Brazile, who also came under fire when it was discovered that she abused her position as a CNN contributor to leak debate questions to Hillary.

And the options to replace her as chairperson were bleak. In the running were Sally Boynton Brown, who thought her job was to “shut white people up,” Jehmu Greene (some know-nothing you’ve probably seen on Fox News before), Keith Ellison (an anti-Semite whom lifelong leftist Alan Dershowitz threatened to leave the Party over if he was elected chair), former Obama Labor Secretary Tom Perez, and some other people whom you and I had never heard of. In fact, while Perez ended up becoming the DNC chair, I doubt his name recognition was all too notable.

I was hoping Ellison would become the chairperson because of the damage it would cause to the DNC’s image. But Perez’s incompetence has been sufficient for my own liking. In fact, Perez has proven that he runs the DNC about as well as Democrats run cities if you look at his effectiveness. From the beginning of the year through May, the RNC out-raised the DNC by a ratio of 2:1. In July, the DNC raised just $3.8 million, its worst fundraising month since 2007. Meanwhile, the RNC raised $10.2 million, and while they have no debt, the DNC also added $154,000 to its debt, bringing its total debt load to $3.4 million.

The Hill quoted one Democrat bundler’s complaints: “A lot of us feel like there’s nothing exciting, nothing invigorating coming from that building and particularly from Tom Perez.” He also complained that the DNC chairman didn’t even coordinate the first meeting for fundraisers until several weeks ago.

Things are even worse than they seem, because a dollar raised by Republicans is worth more than a dollar raised by Democrats. Remember that Trump spent half as much money as Hillary did on his presidential campaign, and in Georgia’s recent special election, Republican Karen Handel defeated Jon Ossoff despite being outspent 6:1.

And as the Democrats’ fundraising hits record lows, the exact opposite is true for Republicans.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, “the RNC broke a fundraising record and raised more than $100 million during the first nine months of 2017, fueled by small-dollar donors at the center of a grassroots movement.”

Here’s more from the report: “Across the aisle, the Democratic National Committee had raised $46.3 million by the end of August with $6.8 million cash on hand. The DNC had not released September’s fundraising numbers prior to the Friday deadline for Federal Election Commission filings.”

That truly is reassuring. It means that despite how skewed the media’s coverage of the Trump presidency is, and as poor as the polls seem to be, those putting their money where their mouths are don’t buy it.
