Rift Growing Between Pro-Israel Democrats And Pro-Palestine Progressive Wing

Multiple outlets are reporting on a rift amongst Democrats during ongoing violence between Israel and Hamas terrorists.

Multiple outlets are reporting on a rift amongst Democrats during ongoing and escalating violence between Israel and Hamas terror groups in Gaza.

The Hill notes that several of the more progressive members of the party have condemned Israel over pending evictions of dozens of Palestinians from their homes in East Jerusalem, as well as police raids by America’s ally at the Al-Aqsa mosque.

“Key Democrats are pushing back against progressives who are criticizing the treatment of Palestinians by the Israeli government,” they reveal, noting that the violence marks President Biden’s first foreign policy crisis.

Fox News adds that the party also features Squad members like Rep. Ilhan Omar who accuse Israel of terrorism.

“Escalating violence between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas has cast a spotlight on deepening Democratic divisions over the Jewish state,” they write.

Biden Says Israel Has Right to Defend Itself, Squad Democrats Upset

President Biden on Wednesday declared that Israel has the right to defend itself in the face of ongoing Hamas rocket attacks.

“Israel has a right to defend itself when you have thousands of rockets flying into your territory,” he said.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi echoed those statements.

“I condemn the escalating and indiscriminate rocket attacks by Hamas against Israel,” she said in a statement. “Israel has the right to defend herself against this assault, which is designed to sow terror and undermine prospects for peace.”

Far-left Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) blasted Biden for his comments.

“Blanket statements like these … dehumanize Palestinians [and] imply the US will look the other way at human rights violations,” she tweeted.

“It’s wrong.”

The Washington Post also noted the disparity between Biden and Pelosi with Squad radicals who condemn Israel.

“The worst violence in years between the Israeli military and Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip poses the first major foreign policy challenge for President Biden, while exposing a growing divide among Democrats over criticism of Israel,” they explain.

Omar Accuses Israel Of Terrorism

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) wasn’t the only Squad member to criticize Israel and side with Hamas.

America’s ally was defending itself from what Reuters described as “Palestinian militants pound(ing) Israel with rockets” while Hamas vowed to turn the nation into “a hell” and continued launching attacks from suspected terrorist strongholds against numerous cities.

Ayanna Pressley, the Democrat Representative from Massachusetts, believes that’s nothing more than a form of “resistance.”

“As a black woman in America, I am no stranger to police brutality and state-sanctioned violence,” Pressley said in a speech on the House Floor Thursday night. “We have been criminalized for the very way we show up in the world.”

She added: “Palestinians are being told the same thing as black folks in America: There is no acceptable form of resistance.”

Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), the first Palestinian-American woman elected to Congress, accused Israel of being an “apartheid government.”

“To read the statements from President Biden, Secretary [of State Antony] Blinken, [Secretary of Defense] General [Lloyd] Austin, and leaders of both parties, you’d hardly know Palestinians existed at all,” she said through tears.

Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) had perhaps some of the most incendiary comments, labeling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “a far-right ethno-nationalist.”

Omar accused Israel of being the actual terrorists.

“Israeli airstrikes killing civilians in Gaza is an act of terrorism. Palestinians deserve protection. Unlike Israel, missile defense programs, such as Iron Dome, don’t exist to protect Palestinian civilians,” she said.

“It’s unconscionable to not condemn these attacks on the week of Eid.”

Earlier this week Omar accused the deputy mayor of Jerusalem of supporting “ethnic cleansing.”

While Democrats have refused to condemn their extremist rhetoric, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) spelled out rather plainly where their allegiance clearly lies.

Cruz accused the Squad of being “shills for terrorists.”

“And it is disgraceful that you have members of the United States Congress that basically operate as shills for terrorists and undermine Israel — and they undermine Israel so often, that after a while, you start to say, OK, we get it, you don’t like the Jews,” he said.

The far-left Democrats, he added, are “tweeting things that frankly are indistinguishable from what they’d be saying if they were actually the press secretaries for Hamas.”

“There is a fundamental difference between a nation defending itself against terrorists, and terrorists targeting women and children, which Hamas is doing,” Cruz said.

One thing these reports are missing: The rift isn’t between the Squad and the Democrats – The rift is between the Squad and America and her national and foreign interests.
