Secretary of State Rex Tillerson Considered Resigning Over the Summer

rex tillerson resign trump moron

It’s an open secret in Washington that President Trump and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson don’t see eye to eye.

Over the weekend, the president scolded Tillerson over his attempted diplomacy with North Korea. The communist country has been increasing its provocations with America, threatening to shoot down our military plans. President Trump is fed up with Kim Jong-un, and told Tillerson to drop diplomacy:

Now, a report has emerged that Tillerson referred to Trump as a “moron” over the summer. The acrimony was so bad between the two that Tillerson was threatening to resign. Vice President Pence had to intervene to ensure that wouldn’t happen.

NBC reports, “Pence has since spoken to Tillerson about being respectful of the president in meetings and in public, urging that any disagreements be sorted out privately, a White House official said. The official said progress has since been made.”

Well, it looks like that report may be fake news. Tillerson just gave a press conference minutes ago, and confirmed that Pence has never had to persuade him to stay with the Administration. Tillerson reaffirmed his commitment to Trump’s America-first agenda.

For now, it seems like tensions have dissipated. But this was far from the first time they have flared up. Last August, Trump reportedly expressed his disappointment with Tillerson, saying that he was infected with too much “establishment thinking.”

It may be only a matter of time before things turn south again.
