Mark Herring, Virginia’s radical anti-gun attorney general, and Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe, one of his biggest supporters, just might have to put their money where their mouth is on concealed carry permits.
Herring recently announced that Virginia would no longer recognize concealed carry handgun permits from more than two dozen other states.
The move, which the NRA estimates would effect 6.3 million concealed carry permit holders, has been called “a declaration of war against the Second Amendment.”
There have been various calls to either recall or impeach Herring, as backlash to his actions have piled up.
Perhaps the best response however, would be this: the Virginia GOP is considering stripping the governor of his armed security detail.
Via the Daily Caller:
Republican state legislators could strip Virginia Democrat Governor Terry McAuliffe of his protective detail. Virginia Sen. Bill Carrico told The Herald Courier last Tuesday he plans to propose a budget amendment during the State Senate’s January Session that would defund the governor’s protective detail.
“A lot of the governor’s power is deferred to the General Assembly at that point and I’ll be getting with my colleagues to circumvent everything this governor has done on this point,” Carrico said. “I have a budget amendment that I’m looking at to take away his executive protection unit. If he’s so afraid of guns, then I’m not going to surround him with armed state policemen.”

The truth is he does not need the armed guards. How many governors have been shot or even killed by an armed criminal. I cannot think of any. That being the case there is no need for the governor to have even one armed guard. They should pass this law.
Karma - when the Governor gets in a bind he can stomp his feet, show the criminal the code of law, and piss himself right before he reaps the rewards of his stupidity.
2d and 14th "fully applicable" in all States--just like Gay Marriage license LEGAL in all states. That not even enumerated Right like 2d Amendment. Atty General needs to understand his Constitutional Duty and cannot abrogate any Rules, Rights that have to do with "fundamental" and "individual" Rights of all US Citizens. He cannot diminish ANY Constitutional Rights; he can "add-to" but can never abolish, infringe, or destroy these Inalienable Rights that are incorporated against the States by the 14th Amendment. McAwful is the boy behind this...this AG is not that stupid. Yet again, maybe he is. He's a liberal democrat.
Let's put "GUN FREE ZONE" signs on his office and home. That will solve the problem.
Google "Two Minute Conservative" for sharp thinking.
By "Removing" his protective detail, THAT would "Make the Point" . . . QUITE WELL !. I frankly, hope their actually able to PULL IT OFF !.
What a bunch of undisciplined children, these Republicans. If they don't get their way, they virtually stomp, cry, and seek revenge.
Removing the guards, of course, could put the governor's live in danger, which, apparently, many conservatives would love to do. Perhaps, with luck, that liberal would be assassinated. That would certainly call for a party.
The once (long ago) noble Republican Party has now sunk to a new low. They are devoid of honor and personal integrity, not to mention a fair degree of intelligence.
Such a law banning out-of-State CC permits is virtually useless because it is supported only by the State (sans self-serving Republicans). The Republican base will likely to ignore it anyway. In order for it to have effect would be for Congress to make it a federal law--which they should along with other laws designed to take weapons out of the hands of those who should not have them.
Is that not the same thing he is doing to millions of people? Stripping them of their right to protect themselves. You sound like a liberal that calls names when they don't get their way.
As far as sinking to a new low, they have only started to act like Democrats when they don't get their own way.
This is really a moot point as I would pay no more attention to an anti 2nd Amendment Governor than I do to an anti 2nd Amendment Obama!.
Sorry max, but you are so wrong its not funny. Ever hear of the Commerce clause or the Hodges decision? BOTH say that a state MUST recognize a legally issued license from another state. Meaning that the decision to not recognize the CCW's from another state is illegal and unconstitutional and cannot be enforced. SO exactly how is Virginia going to refuse to recognize the US Constitution and a US Supreme Court decision?
Guess that means you just shoved your foot in your mouth and so far down your throat that you have to drop trou to change your socks.
What's the matter, Max? Are your pink panties too tight? Anyone trying to take gun rights from others shouldn't have the privilege of having armed guards. This includes the POS that resides in the WH.
I think stripping the governor of his detail is a great idea. This man is a thug from the Clinton Crime family, that was under investigation for either ethics or criminal wrong doings before he got into office. Why did the investigation drop? His election as governor was somewhat suspicious as well, being behind all night and suddenly the ballots of one county from northern Virginia got him in the lead. If this man wants to work with the Dems on gun control, it should start with his lead and show how he can feel safe without his armed guards. He should not have any kind of detail, whether paid for with his money or by taxpayers. He should have to live in a gun free zone environment, if he wants others to. This man is a coward and just tows the line of the Dems. He deserves nothing from us.
When the gov needs help, he can just call Black Lives Matter!
They say Obama has 7 armed guards who protect him at all times. If I had 7 armed guards, I would not feel the need to have a gun either. However, I don't have 7 armed guards. With all of the refuges he wants to let into the country, every American citizen over the age of 18 should be allowed to have a gun, if they want one. Remember Nazi Germany. He who does not learn from history is doomed to repeat it.
I think anyone against guns should have to give up the right for someone with a gun to protect them then.If they don't think they are needed for protection they shouldn't need them either then it is only fair.
