Republican lawmakers thoroughly denounced Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland for personally approving the raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, and demanded a Homeland Security briefing by the FBI, Department of Justice, and National Archives.

Garland admitted Thursday that he personally signed off on the warrant to search Trump’s home.

Republicans were quick to note that his actions mark an unprecedented effort by a sitting Attorney General against the likely opponent of the President that nominated him to the post.

“Merrick Garland personally approved a search warrant to take down Joe Biden’s top political opponent,” said Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) tweeted. “This is a politically motivated witch hunt.”

Lindsey Graham – Garland’s FBI Raid Another Reason Trump Supporters Have Lost Faith in the System

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) pointed out that Garland’s approval of the FBI raid marks yet another example of why conservatives have no faith in his Justice Department or the Bureau itself.

“Half the country believes that when it comes to President Trump, there are no rules. They have lost faith in the system,” he said.

Graham called for the “full disclosure of the facts and circumstances, which led to this unprecedented action.”

The Senator had previously been skewered by Fox News host Jesse Watters for failing to project a sense of urgency regarding Garland’s FBI raid on Trump’s home.

Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) hinted that investigations into the Attorney General’s actions may be forthcoming should the GOP take back control of the House.

“Merrick Garland better get ready to answer some questions next Congress,” warned Gimenez.

Demand Homeland Security Briefing

In what perhaps marks a more serious tone against the Garland-authorized FBI raid on President Trump’s home, a pair of Senators are demanding a Homeland Security briefing on the matter.

“GOP Senators James Lankford and Rick Scott are demanding that the Senate be briefed by the FBI, Department of Justice and National Archives regarding the ‘unprecedented’ raid of former President Trump’s Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago,” reports Fox News.

The two voiced their concerns in a letter to the Democratic chair of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, first obtained by Fox.

“Due to the weight of this matter Congress cannot be left guessing the intentions of the FBI and DOJ. This is unprecedented action and the FBI and DOJ must be fully transparent about their motivation and objectives,” they wrote. “A members briefing must be held immediately.”

The Senators state that Trump had been negotiating with the National Archives and the DOJ to resolve the matter for months, meaning the decision to execute a highly publicized search warrant seemingly out of nowhere “raises many significant questions.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy was one of the first to call for a probe into Garland’s actions, saying on Monday, the day of the raid, that he had “seen enough.”

“Attorney General Garland, preserve your documents and clear your calendar,” he wrote.

Republicans across the board are fired up over what took place. And a unified GOP heading into the midterms could spell trouble for the Democrats.
