On Friday, Republican Congressman Madison Cawthorn warned that President Biden’s door-to-door coronavirus vaccine check-ins could be a harbinger of darker things to come – including efforts to seize people’s guns or Bibles.  

Cawthorn made his remarks during an interview with Right Side Broadcasting Network.

Rep. Cawthorn: ‘They Could Then Go Door-To-Door And Take Your Guns’

Looking back at 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic, Cawthorn said, “Authoritarianism is on the rise… there are tyrants who want to take away our rights, to not be able to congregate in churches, not be able to own firearms.”

The Republicans then cited the Biden administration’s plans of “going door-to-door, to be able to take vaccines to the people.”

Biden recently announced a “door-to-door” effort to convince more Americans to take the vaccine.

“The thing about the mechanisms they would have to build to be able to actually execute that massive of a thing, and then think about what those mechanism could be used for, they could then go door-to-door and take your guns; they could go door-to-door and take your Bibles,” Cawthorn claimed.

During the 2020 presidential campaign, Biden campaigned on increasing gun control and particularly an assault weapons ban.

Biden said last month, “Those who say the blood of patriots and all that stuff about how we’re going to have to move against the government…well the tree of liberty is not watered with the blood of patriots.”

The president continued, “If you think you need have weapons to take on the government you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons.”

Biden finished, “The point is there has always been the ability to rationally limit the type of weapon that can be owned and who can own it.”

To be clear, Biden has not announced any plans for door-to-door confiscation of guns or bibles – Cawthorn’s warning is theoretical.

Biden has also repeatedly pushed for a ban on on “high capacity” magazines and supports instituting universal background checks.

Former president Donald Trump reminded a crowd of thousands at his rally in Wellington, Ohio on June 26, “If you remember, when I was campaigning against Joe Biden I said, ‘They are going to take away your guns’ and ‘Your Second Amendment is under siege.”
