Report: Trump And Newt Gingrich Teaming Up For New ‘Contract With America’

Donald Trump is reportedly teaming up with Newt Gingrich on a new ‘MAGA doctrine’ for the Republican Party, using the famed “Contract with America” as a framework.

The work is yet another signal that Trump is prepared to drag the Republican Party toward a more America-centric platform with an eye on the 2022 midterms and the 2024 presidential election.

Politico is reporting that the former President “has begun crafting a policy agenda outlining a MAGA doctrine for the party,” adding that “his template is the 1994 ‘Contract with America.'”

A source tells Politico that Trump has sat down for a meeting with former House Speaker Gingrich, his former chief of staff Mark Meadows, and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to begin drawing up the new contract.

They note that “it is likely to take an ‘America-First’ policy approach on everything from trade to immigration” with the source describing it as “a policy priority for 2022 and beyond.”

Gingrich On Trump’s ‘Contract With America’ – Bring It On

Newt Gingrich wouldn’t commit to a timeframe for the ‘Contract with America 2.0’ to be released, but said it would likely be closer to the midterms and not “anytime soon.”

When asked what the Republican agenda should be going forward, he outlined a few platforms that could be featured.

“It should be positive,” Gingrich told Politico. “School choice, teaching American history for real, abolishing the ‘1619 Project,’ eliminating critical race theory and what the Texas legislature is doing.”

He added, “We should say, ‘Bring it on.'”

“Trump’s advisers say he is invested in the Republican Party’s success in the next midterm elections,” the report reads.

Last month, CNBC revealed that Trump’s leadership PAC “Save America” has $85 million on hand heading into the midterms and 2024, something one person with knowledge of the matter describes as a “gargantuan sum of cash.”

Trump is certainly gearing up for a fight.

The Original Contract Was Pivotal In Winning Back The House In 1994

Introducing a new Trump-themed ‘Contract with America’ could be pivotal in winning back support within the Republican Party, if not for the midterm elections and possible control of the House and/or Senate.

The GOP needs five House seats and one Senate seat in 2022 to regain control of each respective chamber.

The 1994 version for which Gingrich is famous presented ten government reform bills Republicans planned to introduce in Congress and helped propel the party to a pickup of 52 House seats and 9 seats in the Senate.

It was the first time the GOP took control of the House in four decades.

Trump issued a loosely similar pact just before the 2016 election called the “Contract with the American Voter.”

The Political Insider’s own Chris Barron wrote back in February that the Republican Party needed a new “Contract with America” to win back the support of the people.

Barron, however, called the updated version a “Contract for America First.”

“Every single Republican running for office should be asked to sign this Contract for America First and pledge to fight for their constituents,” he wrote.

“They should pledge to fight to end illegal immigration, to fight for fair trade, to end foreign adventurism, to protect the middle class, to break the power of big business and big tech, to stand for working-class Americans, and to stand up to the media, Hollywood, and the left-wing culture warriors,” declared Barron.

If Newt and Trump can use the new contract to help the Republican Party – and real conservative nominees – win back a fraction of the seats it did back in 1994, it could help stop the incredibly detrimental Biden administration from running America into the ground.

America First defeating America last is a contract every voter should get behind.
