Report: Some Illegal Immigrants Being Released Into U.S. Without Paperwork Or Court Notices At The Border

The Associated Press is reporting that officials are releasing illegal immigrants that have crossed the southern border without court dates and in some cases, no paperwork at all.

The column suggests overcrowding at Border Patrol facilities is leading authorities to simply turn people loose.

“Overwhelmed and underprepared, U.S. authorities are releasing migrant families on the Mexican border without notices to appear in immigration court or sometimes without any paperwork at all,” they write.

AP only mentions families, not individuals.

The Associated Press explains that the move is an “unusual practice” and reiterates the fact that “some (migrants) got no documents at all” when they were released.

“Customs and Border Protection, which oversees the Border Patrol, said it stopped issuing court notices in some cases because preparing even one of the documents often takes hours,” the AP reveals.

They add that CBP would not answer questions as to how many families had been released without court documents or any papers at all.

Migrant Families Being Released at the Border

Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar, who represents Texas’ 28th Congressional District on the southern border, warned last week that over 150 migrants had been released without court documents due to overcrowding at holding facilities.

“They got released without even a Notice To Appear, which is, in my opinion, unprecedented that you’re going to release somebody and hope that they show up without a court date,” Cuellar said.

He added that none of those released without paperwork were unaccompanied minors.

Cuellar has previously warned that fast-tracking migrants by using “rapid-processing centers” to speed up the process as the Biden administration is doing are “providing an incentive” for illegal immigrants to come to the border.

Overwhelmed Facilities in ‘Horrifying’ Conditions

Right now, the number of migrant children in border facilities is at a record high – the most since the “government started releasing data.”

After spending weeks denying the press access to border facilities, the media toured a facility earlier this week with “more than 4,000 people … crammed into a space intended for 250.”

As such, Chris Cabrera, spokesman for the National Border Patrol Council, told the AP he welcomes the move to release some migrants without court paperwork, which can sometimes take well over an hour to prepare.

“Honestly, from my end, I think it’s good because it’s less paperwork for our guys,” said Cabrera.

During a virtual town hall event Wednesday evening, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggested conditions at the border under President Biden are “horrifying,” though she placed more blame on former President Trump.

“As we’ve seen there are arrivals and undocumented children – rather unaccompanied children that have come at the border and this had lead to completely inhuman and unacceptable, horrifying conditions of children in CBP custody,” she asserted.

“It’s unacceptable and it’s horrifying.”

What’s truly horrifying is that releasing migrants surging at the border without any paperwork is as close to a wide-open border as we’ve seen in this country.
