Utah Senator Mitt Romney, who has been raising his profile amidst whispers of a primary challenge to Donald Trump, is now hinting that he’d vote to remove the President should impeachment pass in the House of Representatives.
Appearing in an interview with “Axios on HBO,” Romney, according to the outlet of the same name, “made it clear that he’s open to voting to remove Trump.”
The one-time Republican candidate for President appears hung up on the phone call between Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, of which transcripts have revealed a mundane conversation asking for a deeper dive into election meddling in 2016.
“I did read the transcript. It remains troubling in the extreme. It’s deeply troubling,” Romney relayed weeks ago. “Clearly what we’ve seen from the transcript itself is deeply troubling.”

While he eviscerates the President on a variety of other topics, Romney’s impeachment focus still seems to hinge on a non-existent quid pro quo with Ukraine.
Axios reports that Trump’s requests for inquiry into the Bidens was, according to Romney, “shocking.”
“It was shocking, in my opinion, for the president to do so — and a mistake for him to do,” Romney, who rarely finds anything shocking out of the Democrat party, said. “I can’t imagine coming to a different point of view.”
As such, the Senator’s willingness to vote for removal of the President of the United States based on resistance party talking points explained thusly: “I just want to get as much information as we can, make an assessment consistent with the law and the Constitution.”

How far has Romney fallen since 2012 – from respected presidential candidate to essentially a retread of Justin Amash or Evan McMullin, two pretend conservatives who seek attention on social media from the left.
He is an opportunist of the worst kind.
After accepting Trump’s endorsement for Utah senator in 2018, Romney wrote a scathing op-ed indicating the President had failed to live up to the “mantle” of the presidency.
Romney also accepted Trump’s endorsement for him in the 2012 election.
Now suddenly, the President is toxic in Mitt’s view? No, he’s planning a run.

These latest actions demonstrate exactly why Romney lost in 2012 – he’s not a true conservative or even a Republican for that matter.
When asked about Trump being “honrable,” Romney mentioned the President’s extramarital affairs – a fair line of attack.
When asked the same question of Barack Obama or Joe Biden, the Senator couldn’t find anything to criticize.
“I believe he’s an honorable man. Yes. Yea. A good family man. And he made a lot of mistakes. Most presidents do,” Romney said.
Of Biden he claimed, “I don’t know Joe Biden terribly well, but from everything I’ve seen, and the interactions I’ve had with him, he seems to be a man of honor.”
Really, Mitt? Trump calling for an investigation into the Biden family’s dishonorable actions is impeachable, but those actual actions are perfectly fine in your world?
