Report: Gen. Milley Assured Pelosi ‘Crazy’ Trump Couldn’t Launch Nukes Alone

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly called General Mark Milley following the Capitol riot in January to express concerns that a “crazy” President Trump would lunch nukes, but the General assured her he couldn’t launch such an attack alone.

This, according to reports in a new book called, Peril.

The New York Times details the conversation that took place between Milley, under fire for statements in which he assured China he’d warn them of a pending attack if Trump elected to act, and Pelosi who had become frantic about the former President’s mental state.

“This is bad, but who knows what he might do?” Pelosi fretted. “He’s crazy. You know he’s crazy. He’s been crazy for a long time. So don’t say you don’t know what his state of mind is.”

“Madam Speaker,” General Milley replied, “I agree with you on everything.”

In testimony during Tuesday’s Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, Milley deflected when confronted with the claim.

Milley Assures Pelosi That ‘Crazy’ Trump Can’t Launch Nukes Alone

General Mark Milley told lawmakers during Tuesday’s testimony that Nancy Pelosi “made various personal references characterizing the president.”

The comments addressed her reported accusations that the former President was “crazy.”

“I explained to her that the president is the sole nuclear launch authority, but he doesn’t launch them alone,” Milley contends. “And that I am not qualified to determine the mental health of the president of the United States.”

Milley went on to assure Pelosi that “there are processes, protocols, and procedures in place” to prevent an illegal or accidental nuclear attack.

Still, the General claims that “by law” he is “not in the chain of command,” but is in the “chain of communication” regarding attack directives coming from the President.

Milley Discussed Trump Presidency With Book Authors

There was no denying that General Mark Milley spoke with the authors of the book in question regarding parts of the Trump presidency.

Aside from speaking with one of the authors of Peril, the Washington Post’s Bob Woodward, he also spoke to the authors of I Alone Can Fix It, journalists Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker.

The latter book also claimed to have details of the conversation between Pelosi and Milley.

“This guy’s crazy,” Pelosi told Milley according to the authors. “He’s dangerous. He’s a maniac.”

Milley allegedly replied, “Ma’am, I guarantee you that we have checks and balances in the system.”

In I Alone Can Fix It, Milley made other startling comments about President Trump, comparing complaints of election fraud and the protests that resulted from those objections to the rise of Nazi Germany.

“This is a Reichstag moment,” Milley allegedly told aides. “The gospel of the Führer.”

Under questioning from Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) Tuesday, Milley admitted leaking details of the Trump presidency to multiple book authors.

When asked if the quotes being published in the books were accurate, however, Milley deflected saying he couldn’t know because he didn’t actually read them.

“I haven’t read any of the books so I don’t know,” he said when Blackburn asked if his comments were accurately portrayed.

“Let’s have you read the books and then let us know if you are accurately presented and portrayed,” Blackburn quipped.

Interestingly, while Milley admitted to discussing President Trump to authors and the House Speaker regarding military matters, he said this during his testimony regarding President Biden and his recommendations on Afghanistan:

“I don’t discuss exactly what my conversations are with the sitting president in the Oval Office.”

And yet, he spoke with multiple book authors about Trump while he was in the Oval Office.

In other news, Milley defended making phone calls to China – in which he assured them the United States wasn’t planning an attack, and that Milley would warn China if an attack was coming – insisting he has “absolute” loyalty to the country.
