Report Claims Joe Manchin Considering Leaving The Democrats – But He Denies It

David Corn, reporter for the left-wing website Mother Jones, reported on Wednesday that Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin is considering leaving the Democrat Party and going independent.

Manchin has been the target of the far-left for his refusal to give the party a blank check on the Democrats’ massive $3.5 trillion spending plan.

Corn’s report says that if Manchin and Democrats cannot reach an agreement on the bill, he will announce that he is leaving the party.

Shortly after the explosive report came out, Manchin vehemently denied it was true – chalking it up to rumor-mongering.

Disagreements With Parts Of The Bill

Stuck in the middle between Joe Manchin and Biden with other Democrats are several key elements of the mammoth spending bill.

On the list of objectionable items the sheer size of the bill, a carbon tax, Medicare and Medicaid expansion, expanded child tax credits, and climate change measures.

He has also said he would not support any package that did not contain the Hyde Amendment, which bans federal funds paying for abortion.

Manchin has been in extensive talks with other Democrats like fellow Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), all in an effort to come to an agreement.

Lefties Have A Meltdown

Manchin’s refusal to support the massive expansion of government has earned him to ire of the left. Attacks have gotten increasingly personal, often accusing Manchin of benefitting financially from not spending trillions in government money.

Some suspect he may be some sort of double agent, intent on sabotaging the 2022 midterms on behalf of Republicans.

Some made the suggestion that Manchin has a master plan to enrich his family – though such individuals seem curiously incurious about other Senators:

One newer line of attack is that Manchin is just another Washington elitist.

And yes, if all else fails, there is always the race card:

So Manchin has officially denied that he has any inklings to leave the Democrats – though he is clearly not welcome in his own party unless he toes the line.
