Report: Biden Pressured Afghan President To Create ‘Perception’ Taliban Wasn’t Winning ‘Whether It Is True Or Not’

A bombshell report claims that Joe Biden called Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in July and pressured him to create the “perception” that the Taliban was under control “whether it is true or not.”

Reuters on Tuesday revealed details of a transcript that was leaked of the phone call between Biden and Ghani on July 23rd. They also listened to the audio of the roughly 14-minute conversation.

The results are a startling display of President Biden encouraging Ghani to shape the narrative – or worse, outright lie – about the situation in Afghanistan both to the world, and by extension the American people.

According to Reuters, Biden repeatedly focused on what he called Afghanistan’s “perception” problem.

“I need not tell you the perception around the world and in parts of Afghanistan, I believe, is that things are not going well in terms of the fight against the Taliban,” the President pressed.

“And there is a need, whether it is true or not, there is a need to project a different picture.”

Biden Called Afghan President Asking Him to Change Perception That Taliban Was Winning

Biden having called the Afghan President and suggesting he change the “perception” that the Taliban was winning underscores just how desperate he was to divert attention from the disaster being created in that country.

According to the Reuters report, Biden went so far as to suggest Afghanistan’s prominent political figures get together for a press conference to promote a new agreed-to military strategy.

“That will change perception, and that will change an awful lot I think,” he said.

The White House website provides a “readout” of the phone call between Biden and the Afghan president but makes no mention of altering the “perception” that the Taliban was winning.

Less than four weeks after the call, the Taliban would storm Kabul, and Ghani would flee the country.

Incredibly, Biden appears to be totally confident in the state of the Afghan military.

Biden told Ghani, “You clearly have the best military. You have 300,000 well-armed forces versus 70-80,000 and they’re clearly capable of fighting well.”

As Reuters points out, nothing could be further from the truth: “Days later, the Afghan military started folding across provincial capitals in the country with little fight against the Taliban.”

Changing The ‘Narrative’

Fox News reports that after Biden called the Afghan President and urged him to change the narrative, General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, did the same in a follow-up call to Ghani.

“The perception in the United States, in Europe and the media sort of thing is a narrative of Taliban momentum, and a narrative of Taliban victory,” Milley allegedly said.

“And we need to collectively demonstrate and try to turn that perception, that narrative around.”

Critics couldn’t help notice that former President Donald Trump was impeached by House Democrats for a July 25, 2019 phone call between him and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump, according to transcripts of the call, asked Zelensky to “look into” former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

Former Fox News contributor Monica Crowley responded to news that Biden had called the Afghan President urging him to change the narrative on the Taliban tweeting, “Sounds like an impeachable phone call to me.”

In the months leading up to the botched withdrawal of American troops, President Biden was telling the American people that things were going smoothly and that our Afghan allies were in control.

In an interview with ABC News on August 19th, Biden said “the idea that the Taliban would take over … I don’t think anybody anticipated that.”

His phone call with Ghani weeks earlier indicates that that perception was indeed already the narrative that needed to be controlled.
