Former Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke is reportedly considering a run for Texas governor in 2022.
The Associated Press ran a story based on the comments of a top aide to O’Rourke who said he “is again weighing another campaign — this time for governor.”
The AP refers to the Democrat as the “breakout star out of Texas” – though he lost his Senate race against Ted Cruz – and adds that the aide doesn’t have a timeline for an actual decision, only that he has “been able to think more about running now.”
They add that O’Rourke “has taken no formal steps toward a campaign, like calling donors or recruiting staff.”

Beto O’Rourke Could Run For Texas Governor In 2022
Beto O’Rourke running for Texas governor against Greg Abbott is setting up a 2022 battle between two diametrically opposed viewpoints on the Second Amendment.
During a presidential debate in September, O’Rourke announced that “hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.”

He would later threaten gun owners with forcible confiscation.
“If someone does not turn an AR-15 or an AK-47, one of these weapons of war, or brings it out in public and brandishes it, in an attempt to intimidate … then that weapon will be taken from them,” Beto warned.
“If they persist, there will be other consequences from law enforcement.”

President Biden was so enamored with these extreme viewpoints that he promised O’Rourke that he would have a ‘lead’ role in his efforts to reform gun control laws in America.
Abbott, by contrast, has vowed to turn Texas into a Second Amendment sanctuary state.
“Politicians from the federal level to the local level have shouted: ‘Heck yes, the government is coming to get your guns,'” Abbott said, a direct response to O’Rourke. “We won’t let that happen in Texas.”

“Star” Or Loser?
While the AP refers to Beto O’Rourke as a “star” in their report about running for Texas governor in 2022, the reality is the Democrat has a recent history of perpetual political losses.
He lost a bid to unseat Ted Cruz from his Senate post in 2018 by over 210,000 votes despite outraising the Republican candidate $80+ million to $45+ million.
O’Rourke would later, as the AP describes it, come “crashing back to Earth in a short-lived presidential run” in 2020.
He then launched a political action committee (PAC) to boost Democrats in Texas ahead of the 2020 election, a venture which the Texas Tribune reports was “another disappointment” for the party.

O’Rourke, like fellow Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has a penchant for hyperbole that never really pans out.
In early March, as Governor Abbott was lifting the mask mandate in Texas, Beto claimed the GOP was a “cult of death” and said Republicans “literally want to sacrifice” lives.
“They literally want to sacrifice the lives of our fellow Texans, for I don’t know, for political gain?” O’Rourke claimed without evidence.
Something which, if this nation had a media not overrun with professional spin doctors for the Democrat party, would prompt stories about how wrong O’Rourke was, and how right Abbott is.
