Rep. John Conyers Son Was Arrested For Domestic Abuse Earlier This Year, Not Prosecuted

Apple … tree. Tree … apple.

It seems Rep. John Conyers may have passed down his lack of respect for women to his son … allegedly.

Earlier this week, amidst a slew of sexual misconduct allegations, Rep. John Conyers stepped down from his seat after 52 years in Congress.

In a surprise move, the congressman endorsed his son to succeed him.

“I have a great family here and especially in my oldest boy, John Conyers III, who, incidentally, I endorse to replace me in my seat in Congress,” he announced.

Little was known about the younger Conyers, aside from being an aspiring rapper and ‘minority-run hedge fund owner.’

It took little time for people to start investigating his background, discovering that aside from being an aspiring rapper, he also has a history of being an aspiring … Conyers.

Conyers III was arrested but never charged due to a “lack of independent witnesses” and no valid proof that the injuries sustained by the woman weren’t accidental.

But there were injuries.

He claims that the woman pulled a knife and he tried to disarm her, accidentally cutting her arm. The police report indicates that she sustained “a small stab wound to a lower biceps .”

According to the woman’s account, however, it was Conyers III who started the altercation, growing aggressive due to suspicions that she was cheating on him.

The report reads that he, “body slammed her on the bed and then on the floor where he pinned her down and spit on her.”

The woman said she grabbed the knife as self-defense, but he wrestled it away, swinging it at her and causing the injury.

The younger Conyers was arrested and later released that same day on $50,000 bond. A restraining order was issued.

Prosecutors declined to charge him due to a lack of evidence outside of what the couple was reporting.

In a recent interview with reporters over his father’s sexual misconduct scandal, Conyers III said: “With sexual assault, women are to be believed.”
