Rand Paul Demands Obama Reveal If He Was Spied on During 2016 Campaign

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) dropped a bombshell on social media, claiming he officially filed requests with the White House and intelligence committees to provide evidence whether he was under surveillance by the Obama administration.

Via The Hill:

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) says he has asked the intelligence community and White House for any evidence that he was surveilled by former President Barack Obama.

“I have formally requested from the WH and the Intel Committees info on whether I was surveilled by Obama admin and or the Intel community!” Paul tweeted Friday.

The tweet appears to build off of President Trump’s claim, presented without evidence, that the Obama administration wiretapped Trump Tower during last year’s presidential race.

“Presented without evidence.”

Where were these media fact-checkers when the previous President was lying about everything under the sun? Don’t recall any media reports in which ‘Obama claimed, without evidence, that Benghazi was the result of a YouTube video.’

Paul’s announcement came after a series of tweets referencing an explosive report from Circa that revealed Obama’s team sought NSA intelligence on thousands of Americans in the run-up to the 2016 election. In other words, the evidence.

The Circa report lifted the curtain on Obama’s surveillance efforts, saying the administration “significantly expanded efforts to search National Security Agency intercepts for information about Americans, distributing thousands of intelligence reports across government with the unredacted names of U.S. residents during the midst of a divisive 2016 presidential election.”

It had also alleged that congressional members and their staff were “among those whose names were unmasked” in 2016 and 2017.

That revelation may have been what prompted Senator Paul to finally demand answers.

Paul previously commented on the possibility that the Obama administration unmasked members of the Trump transition team, saying it shouldn’t be downplayed as “no big deal.”

Indeed, it is a big deal, and will be more so if the Senator discovers he was spied on during the campaign.
