Psaki Snaps Back At Reporter Who Asks Why Biden Supports Abortion If He’s Catholic

On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki snapped back at a reporter who asked how President Joe Biden could support abortion if he is Catholic.

Biden had strong words for Texas’ new law that bans abortions after a heartbeat is detected. He promised a “whole of government” response to take on Texas.

Psaki implied that the reporter that they did not comprehend the issue because they had never “been pregnant.”

EWTN Reporter Asks Psaki About Biden’s Catholic Faith

Owen Jensen, a reporter for the Catholic news network EWTN, asked Psaki, “Why does the President support abortion when his own Catholic faith teaches abortion is morally wrong?” 

“He believes that it’s a woman’s right,” Psaki responded. “It’s a woman’s body and it’s her choice.”

The catechism of the Catholic Church unequivocally states that life begins at conception. 

Jensen followed up, “Who does he believe then should look out for the unborn child?” 

Psaki responded, sternly, “He believes that it’s up to a woman to make those decisions and up to a woman to make those decisions with her doctor.”

“I know you’ve never faced those choices, nor have you ever been pregnant,” Psaki said. “But for women out there who have faced those choices, this is an incredibly difficult thing.”

She added, “President believes their rights should be respected.”

Psaki repeatedly cut Jensen off as he tried to follow up with more questions.

Some Pro-Lifers Take Offense To Psaki’s ‘Sexist’ Line Of Argument

Earlier this year, a reporter asked Psaki, “Does the President believe that a 15-week-old unborn baby is a human being?”

Psaki dodged the question.

“Are you asking me if the President supports a woman’s right to choose?” Psaki responded. “He does.”

Then she immediately called on another reporter.

Some pro-life women leaders took offense to Psaki’s “sexist” line of argument.

“By Jen Psaki’s arbitrary standard Joe Biden shouldn’t be commenting on abortion either as he’s never been pregnant,” Students for Life president Kristan Hawkins told Fox News. 

Hawkins added, “Her sexism aside, it’s Joe Biden who uses his Catholicism as a talking point and as a woman who has been pregnant and a proud Catholic I would like the President to address how he can actively undermine the church’s teachings on the value of preborn life.”
