Pro-Police Flag Banned From Homes Over Charges It’s ‘Racist, Offensive And Anti-Black Lives Matter’

The daughter of a police officer has been told she must remove the “Blue Lives Matter” flag she flies in honor of her father from outside her home in Jacksonville, Florida. When pressed on why her homeowners’ association called the pro-police flag “racist” and “offensive.” What a sorry state American is in when supporting the police is considered racist.

According to Action News Jax:

Jeff Gaddie says a Blue Lives Matter flag has flown outside his daughter’s home in St. Johns County for years.

Gaddie told Action News Jax it’s flown to honor him — and many other family members — who work in law enforcement. …

“If you drive by and see that flag, it kind of makes you feel a little bit better, that there’s a family that supports what I’m doing,” Gaddie said.

Recently, his daughter received a letter asking her to remove the flag, saying it doesn’t fit the rules and regulations of the homeowners association.

“She called to ask why,” Gaddie said. “They told her they had received a complaint that it was considered racist, offensive and anti-black lives matter.”

The homeowners association, First Coast Association Management, said that only American and military-themed flags are allowed in the community, but Action News Jax found other flags flying. It stands to reason that police-themed flags should be allowed, too, if “military-themed” flags are.

Police are often referred to as the “Thin Blue Line” that separates the public from anarchy. Black banners and badges with a blue strip have become the symbol of police support and solidarity, but after the ambush attack on police officers at a Black Lives Matter march in Dallas, a black and white American flag with one blue stripe became a more popular symbol for many.

There is some controversy between people who support the police over whether this “Blue Lives Matter” flag counts as a desecration of the American flag, but of course, that is far different from the ridiculous charges of racism that were leveled as the reason why the flag had to go. Honestly, I’m surprised the HOA hasn’t banned American flags or declared those racist, too.

Gaddie wants neighbors to know the flag is nothing but a show of support.

“We’ve got black officers, we’ve got Asian officers, we’re got every race,” Gaddie said. “I mean for them to say it’s racist, blue is not a race, it’s the furthest thing from it.”

The family is planning to appeal the decision at next month’s homeowners association meeting.

If the HOA doesn’t relent, this woman should vote with her feet and move away from neighbors who support the dangerous and violent Black Lives Matter movement to a community that is more welcoming of police and appreciates their service and sacrifice!
