Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters (shown above right) is urging halftime performers at the upcoming Super Bowl to “take a knee” in solidarity with former NFL player Colin Kaepernick (above left).

In a statement posted to the rocker’s social media, he called Kaepernick an “American hero.”

“Colin Kaepernick is an American hero. If the USA is to have a future, it is the Colin Kaepernicks of this world who will lead you there. In fact, it is Colin Kaepernick who is leading you now,” Waters wrote.

He continued, “My colleagues Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi are performing during the halftime show at the Super-bowl this coming Sunday. I call upon them to ‘take a knee’ on stage in full sight.”

The 75-year-old rocker said the performers should take a knee to both show “solidarity” with Kaepernick — who originated the controversial national anthem kneeling in the NFL — and to upset “all the president’s men.”

Waters also included a video showing himself performing onstage in 2017 — and taking a knee in front of the crowd.

Waters has also endorsed a petition asking that upcoming halftime performers Maroon 5 drop out of their halftime show or take a knee to show support for Kaepernick.

Over 100,000 have signed the petition as of this writing.

Waters has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump.

At a concert in 2016, he performed with the words “Trump is a pig” lit up behind him.
