Nancy Pelosi wasted little time in mocking the “Green New Deal,” one of the major policy platforms touted by New York socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The so-called Green New Deal has been the crown jewel of Ocasio-Cortez’ radical new plan that will impose costly environmental regulations to the detriment of Americans businesses.
While the Democrat has been working for months on this signature effort, hoping against hope to prove she’s got the skill as a lawmaker to back up her empty-headed rhetoric, it took Pelosi all of two sentences to dismiss it as … empty-headed rhetoric.
The House Speaker tossed it on a pile of other proposals that the chamber may or may not get to someday, then mocked its name and those who support it.
“It will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive,” Pelosi told Politico on Wednesday. “The green dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it right?”

The Green Dream
The only word missing from Pelosi’s insult would be ‘pipe,’ since Ocasio-Cortez’ plan amounts to little more than a ‘green pipe dream.’
Fox News reports that “the measure is currently in a form of a non-binding resolution — meaning even if it passes it won’t do anything.”
The plan itself also struggles from an inability to adhere to reality.
The Green Pipe Dream seeks to attain a goal of “net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just transition for all communities and workers,” while allegedly focusing on an ill-defined impact on job creation, infrastructure investment, guarantees of clean water, healthy food and sustainable environment, along with a vague reference to “access to nature.”
Cost estimates for the proposal currently range in the trillions.
Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, a possible independent candidate for president in 2020, has slammed Ocasio-Cortez’s proposals as borderline un-American.
Ocasio-Cortez is Super-Duper Excited
Despite Pelosi and a good portion of America snickering at Ocasio-Cortez and her little pipe dreams, the New York socialist remained upbeat about a resolution that won’t see the light of day.
Calling the reveal of her proposal a “big day,” Ocasio-Cortez could hardly contain herself.
“I’m so excited,” she said, before referencing the Green Pipe Dream as “a watershed moment” and “a new national social, industrial and economic mobilization on a scale not seen since World War II and the New Deal.”
The darling of the far-left has frequently referenced the need to address global warming – which she predicts will end the world in 12 years – as being akin to America fighting in World War II.
With that excitement in mind, Pelosi would later follow up her mockery of the deal by trying to walk the comments back.
“Quite frankly, I haven’t seen it, but I do know it’s enthusiastic and we welcome all the enthusiasm that is out there.”
