Pelosi Accidentally Says ‘Christmas Present,’ Corrects Herself By Saying ‘Holiday Present’

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi accidentally let fly with a reference to ‘Christmas’ and quickly walked it back by correcting herself to say ‘holiday’ instead.

Pelosi was discussing her and Chuck Schumer’s meeting with President Trump earlier in the day, in which the President egged the Democrat duo on into having a debate about funding the border wall in front of television cameras.

During the extremely intense clash, originally closed to the press but opened wide when the White House pool was invited into the Oval Office, the President conveyed once again that he would have no problem shutting the federal government down if he is not granted the funds for his proposed border wall.

Trump is requesting $5 billion, while the Democrats are only willing to part with $1.3 billion.

“I am proud to shut down the government over border security,” Trump declared. “I will take the mantle.”

Shortly thereafter, Pelosi described the shutdown as a “Christmas present … a holiday present … to the American people.”

Not Sure Whom She’s Pandering to Here

While it’s clear that Pelosi is pandering to her anti-religion, atheist leftist base, we’re not quite sure why. It’s not like she’s never said the word Christmas before.

“Should, unfortunately, the president choose to shut down the government, so that we have a Trump shut down as a Christmas present, a holiday present, to the American people,” Pelosi said outside the White House. “I told the president that the new House of Representatives when it convenes will pass what Mr. Schumer suggested here.”

In 2009, she described Obamacare legislation, the same legislation which she said she wouldn’t read until after it was passed, as a “Christmas present to the American people.”

Not only that, but she’s wished Americans a Merry Christmas, an actual reference to the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, in the past without much trouble.

Pelosi Missed the Memo

President Trump promised Americans that we could go ahead and say ‘Merry Christmas’ again now that the PC liberals weren’t running the White House. Not the other way around.

“We’re going to start saying Merry Christmas again,” Trump predicted at a rally in Michigan in 2016.

“I will assault that,” the President said in another interview. “I will go so strongly against so many of the things, when they take away the word Christmas.”

Maybe Pelosi is under the impression that with Democrats winning the House in the midterms, she has to go back to placating mindless liberals. Trump’s still President, Ms. Pelosi. It’s still okay to say ‘Christmas.’
