Pelosi Calls Trump ‘Delusional’ For Claiming We’ve Turned The Corner On Pandemic

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) spoke out on Friday to call President Donald Trump “delusional” for saying that America has turned the corner on coronavirus.

Pelosi Blasts Trump Over Coronavirus

Pelosi told MSNBC that the United States actually has a long way to go in the fight against COVID-19, calling on Republicans to support another major relief package.

“The president is delusional when he says we’ve turned the corner on this,” Pelosi said, according to The Hill. “We haven’t. We have miles to go.”

This comes after Trump downplayed the threat of coronavirus during Thursday night’s debate against Joe Biden, claiming that his administration has prevented thousands of deaths.

“If you take a look at what we’ve done in terms of goggles and masks and gowns and everything else, and in particular ventilators — we’re now making ventilators all over the world, thousands and thousands a month distributing them all over the world,” Trump said.

“It will go away. And as I say, we’re rounding the turn,” he added. “We’re rounding the corner. It’s going away.”

Talks About Coronavirus Packages

Pelosi has long been in talks with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin trying to come up with a coronavirus relief package, yet they have been unable to agree on the terms. Trump has previously accused Pelosi of shamelessly trying to work conditions into the package that would bail out Democrat-led cities.

“Nancy Pelosi is asking for $2.4 Trillion Dollars to bailout poorly run, high crime, Democrat States, money that is in no way related to COVID-19,” Trump tweeted earlier this month. “We made a very generous offer of $1.6 Trillion Dollars and, as usual, she is not negotiating in good faith.”

“I am rejecting their request, and looking to the future of our Country,” he added.

Pelosi claimed today that she is still hoping that Congress will pass a COVID-19 relief bill before the election on November 3.

“We’ve put pen to paper. We’re writing the bill, and hopefully we’ll be able to resolve some of the differences,” she alleged. “We could do that before the election — if the president wants to.”
