Pelosi Calls For Investigation After AOC Complains That Marjorie Taylor Greene ‘Aggressively’ Confronted Her

AOC reportedly filed a complaint after Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene "aggressively" confronted her as she left the House chamber.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) reportedly called on the Sergeant-at-Arms to make Congress a “safe, civil place” after Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene “aggressively” confronted her as she left the House chamber.

The incident was first noted by reporters at the Washington Post who witnessed the altercation.

Greene was apparently attempting to get AOC to agree to a debate about her policies. Greene has frequently challenged the New Yorker to debate her “Green New Deal.”

Earlier this week, Greene accused AOC and her “Jihad Squad” of ‘supporting terrorists’ including other groups that she also defined as “terrorists,” such as Antifa and Black Lives Matter.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Confronted AOC

Marjorie Taylor Greene apparently wanted to continue the conversation with AOC shouting, “Hey, Alexandria” twice as she exited the House chamber according to reporters.

CNN reports, “Greene shouted at Ocasio-Cortez that she was failing to defend her “radical socialist” beliefs by declining to publicly debate her.”

“You don’t care about the American people,” Greene shouted. “Why do you support terrorists and Antifa?”

The Daily Mail states that Ocasio-Cortez “kept walking, pausing only to throw up her hands in a gesture of exasperation.”

The confrontation led to Ocasio-Cortez complaining to authorities to ensure Congress remained “a safe, civil place for all members and staff.”

“Representative Greene tried to begin an argument with Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez and when Rep. Ocasio-Cortez tried to walk away, Congresswoman Greene began screaming and called Rep. Ocasio-Cortez a terrorist sympathizer,” a spokeswoman for AOC said in a statement.

“We hope leadership and the Sergeant at Arms will take real steps to make Congress a safe, civil place for all members and staff — especially as many offices are discussing reopening.”

Pelosi Wants The Incident Looked Into

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for an Ethics Committee investigation saying they should “probably” look into what she referred to as Greene’s “verbal assault” and “abuse” of AOC.

“It’s so beyond the pale of anything that is in keeping with bringing honor to the House – or not bringing dishonor to the House,” Pelosi told reporters.

“It’s so beyond the pale that you wonder is this – it probably is a matter for the Ethics Committee.”

Greene refused to back down, referencing a debate challenge she made to AOC that the New York Democrat has yet to accept.

“She’s (AOC) a chicken, she doesn’t want to debate the Green New Deal,” Greene told reporters. “These members are cowards. They need to defend their legislation to the people. That’s pathetic.”

Greene also responded to Pelosi’s call for an investigation.

“Actually, [Speaker Pelosi] the Ethics Committee should look into [AOC] for putting Trump admin staff and supporters on lists to destroy their lives and prevent future employment,” she tweeted.

“She threatened the livelihoods of Americans for simply being Republicans.”

Florida Representative Matt Gaetz, a close ally of Greene, saw the episode differently.

Greene’s response to Pelosi was referencing a social media post just after the presidential election in which AOC suggested people “archive” the names of Trump supporters so they could be held accountable “for their behavior.”

Greene tweeted that reports of screaming on her part toward AOC were false, indicating she and Pelosi were overdramatizing the incident.
