Pat Smith, mother of U.S. Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, one of the four Americans killed in the Benghazi terror attack in 2012, slammed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for describing the controversy following her department’s attempts to cover up what had happened as a ‘political football.’
Clinton and the Obama Administration did everything in their power to portray the compound attack as the result of an obscure anti-Islam video. They pushed that narrative for weeks, even, as we recently found out, having senior State Department officials pressure contractors to keep quiet about the security situation in Benghazi.
Despite the cover up, which reeked of trying to hide President Obama’s failings on combating terrorism just months away from Election Day, Clinton believes it was used against her as a “political football.”
“Take the Benghazi tragedy—you know, I have one of the top Republicans, Kevin McCarthy, admitting we’re going to take that tragedy—because, you know, we’ve lost people, unfortunately, going back to the Reagan administration, if you talk about recent times, in diplomatic attacks,” Clinton told Today Show host Matt Lauer.
“But boy, it was turned into a political football,” she added. “And it was aimed at undermining my credibility, my record, my accomplishments.”
Smith had no sympathy for Clinton, laying into her by calling Benghazi “Hillary’s baby” and saying “she went to bed when [the attack] was going on.”

Smith added that the Democrat has still never had the decency to call her despite promising to do so after her son’s death.
“I am his mother. He was 34 years old, but he was still my baby,” she said. “I know what the government thinks of me, and I think just that much of the government – it stinks.”
She then hinted that things have turned around with the Trump Administration.
“This is how you get treated by the government, or, at least the way you used to,” Smith said.
Smith gave a speech at the Republican National Convention in support of President Trump in which she “blame(d) Hillary Clinton personally for the death of my son.”
The grieving mother also shredded Clinton for being a liar who belongs in jail for the Benghazi cover-up.
“Hillary for prison,” she declared at the RNC. “She deserves to be in stripes.”
