Politicians across the country are tempted by the millions of campaign dollars former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is offering in exchange for anti-gun legislation. Apparently, he bought off enough politicians in Oregon, as new gun rules were just passed. Supported by President Obama, this law severely restricts 2nd Amendment rights.

But law-abiding gun owners in Oregon are fighting back, and telling Obama-supporting gun grabbers to shove it! They have the right to carry guns for hunting and to protect their families… And are making their case in the form of peaceful, civil disobedience… AWESOME!

Now that Oregon’s SB 941 has been signed by the Governor, gun rights activists have banded together and are organizing a facebook event page for a rally entitled “SB 941 I Will Not Comply Demonstration“. The rally is set for May 30th, at the Capitol building in Salem, and will feature a host of speakers. SB 941 is the “universal background check” bill, meaning that if you want to trade guns with your next door neighbor whom you’ve known for 10 years, you must both submit yourselves to background checks and get permission from the state police before the exchange can take place.

While the page doesn’t specifically encourage people to openly violate this new law, it can be expected that several people in attendance will buy, sell, and trade firearms without going through the background check, similar to the Washington “I Will Not Comply” rally that took place last December in Olympia.

There has been some confusion as to whether or not Oregon’s new law is actually in effect or not. The first page of the actual bill says it goes into effect immediately upon passage, but the end of the bill says certain sections don’t go into law until 90 days after passage, which would push it out to the first week of August.

This is the perfect way to handle the situation. The public supports gun rights, and the elites in Oregon’s capital have voted against their wishes. Statistically, the more guns that are in the hands of citizens, the lower crime rate is, as criminals have an incentive to avoid being shot. A state should encourage protection and safety, instead of empowering criminals!
