Oprah is not, I repeat, not running for president.
That’s according to a newly released interview in WSJ. Magazine. From the Daily Mail:
In a new interview with WSJ. Magazine, Winfrey said there’s ‘no way’ she’ll ever be president because it’s not something she thinks she would be good at.
‘I do a few things really well. But I don’t want to manage. I don’t want to spend my days and nights creating policy. I want to continue to be involved with stories that allow people to see the best of themselves, to find a higher good,’ Winfrey told the magazine back in October, about three months before her headline-making Globes speech.
Once again, liberals have more proof that Oprah isn’t running for president. Even though the interview took place before her heralded Golden Globes speech that lit the spark of presidential speculation, Oprah appears pretty damn sure she isn’t running for the nation’s highest office.
In fact, this is the second magazine interview confirming that she has no plans to run. And it’s a good thing she isn’t running. The latest polling suggests she isn’t the most popular candidate in the field. That honor (or disgrace, depending on your take) belongs to Bernie Sanders.
All the hype surrounding a possible Oprah bid was based on nothing but the dim hopes of Democrats looking to offer the country something other than the same failed socialist who lost his presidential bid last go around.
Oprah was supposed to be a breath of fresh air for the Democrats. Instead, she’s turning into a punch in the gut, leaving the Dems fumbling to find a candidate who can match President Trump’s star power and still be able to win in 2020.
That’s no easy task, and with the Republican tax cuts kicking in, and workers feeling richer than ever, the Democrats are going to have their work cut out for them come election time.
