I’m an OIF veteran with 3 deployments to Iraq….But I’m also a black man and believe me, police judge me by my skin color well before my veteran status

You want to know how I was greeted coming home from my last deployment….2 weeks later, walking down my own street a squad car pulled up on the side walk where two cops got out. Before I even knew what was going on, I was punched in the face, repeatedly kicked when I hit the ground and tasored before being thrown in the back of a police car….Why? Because the police thought I looked like some other black, when I wasn’t even in the country at the time of the crime. When they found that out, police charged me with resisting arrest, all to justify why they had to beat me up

That was my homecoming back to my country…My thanks for my service, to be brutally beaten by 2 white police officers when 2 weeks prior I was in a foreign country fighting for America

So all you who want to ignore how we as blacks are treated, writing articles about “who the real heros are”, well keapernick is my hero. I don’t see many of you so called “patriotic” white people standing up for our right not to be beaten down or executed by the State so until you stand up for ALL Americans, none of you have any right to judge kaepernick for his stand

    Jim, you’re disgusting. Seriously.

  3. Catherine says:

Our Veterans take an oath to uphold the Constitution. The very thing that promises equal rights and equal treatment for all. THAT is what we defend, NOT the flag, NOT a song. The flag is supposed to be a symbol of that freedom and justice for all. Unfortunately, too many times, it is not. It takes a lot more courage to take a stand, to point out injustice, knowing you will be vilified for doing so, than to close your eyes to problems and pretend that a lip-syncing a song or a saluting a piece of cloth, or putting on a lapel pin, makes you a patriot. Semper Fi.

  5. Jim says:

If met Kaepernick face to face I would say “I’m proud of you for doing what you believe is right.” If I met the marine I would say “I’m heartsick that you were duped into believing that it was the right thing to do and are not aware that the war in Afghanistan has nothing to do with protecting America. It is about protecting the interests of the oligarchs that have bought your government.”

Time for Americans to stand up and boo Kaepernick every time he enters the football field. In fact I wouldn’t even go to see his team play..

  8. Blood says:

This NFL player should be stripped of his wealth, put in uniform ans sent to war. AGAINST his will, as punishment for his stupidity.

    1. Victoria says:

      Blood: You have my agreement.

  9. Sylvia says:

I wouldn’t give Kaepernick the time of day, much less waste my time acknowledging him. I am a huge NFL team but I expect most people are going to boo him whenever he is on the field. I just wish the 49ers were coming here to play OUR NFL TEAM. Here in Nashville, we Titans fans would give him just what other opposing team fans will give him. The loudest boos any player EVER got in the NFL. Right now, Kaepernick is probably one of the most hated people in America. Be sure if you go to an NFL game where the Niners are playing you loudly let him know what you think of him!

  10. Joel says:

Why blame whites for the behavior of blacks? The majority of blacks are good citizens, with the help of whites. Black communities need to take responsibility for their children so they don’t grow up as criminals. Where are all the black athletes with plenty of money helping to be positive role models. LeBron James has stepped up to the plate in Detroit, where are the others???4

    1. nrahat says:

To do that you would have to get rid of most politicians, especially the democrats.

  11. Ken says:

He is typical of the liberal influence on the black man, whitey is to blame for everything. If enough people boycott the 49ers till it hurts them in the pocketbook his attitude will change. In the meantime he could have a rough go of it on the field if he encounters defensive players who object to his stand in a physical nature. I believe he will be a non entity before the end of the season and rightfully so.

    1. Rich says:

Methinks, a few raps up the side of his head by 300+ pounders going full throttle may have an affect on his attitude . . . but, of course, he would never admit it.

  12. Michael says:

Hard for Kaepernick to make a case when surrounded by all those fellow african-americans making millions playing football. He should thank his lucky stars every day that he has the opportunity to do so. I don’t see him donating part of his paycheck to assist the less fortunate in the community. Put your money where your mouth is, you coward!
