Omar Demands More Gun Control in Wake of Colorado School Shooting

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota is demanding for more gun control in the wake of the Colorado school shooting on Tuesday at the STEM School Highlands Ranch.

Omar tweeted, “I am heartbroken about this shooting in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. We cannot allow ourselves to become accustomed to this violence, we must act and pass gun safety reform now.”

Omar and the other liberals calling for more gun control are not mentioning the fact that Colorado already has universal background checks, which Democrats insist0 is key to preventing these kinds of shootings. The state also has a ban on “high capacity” magazines.

But neither of these laws prevented the tragedy on Tuesday. It’s almost as if no law can prevent evil and mentally deranged people from carrying out acts of violence.

Even banning so-called “assault weapons” wouldn’t have prevented this shooting. A handgun was used in this incident.

But these facts will never stop Omar and every other Democrat and liberal celebrity from insisting that mass shootings can be prevented by more laws that inhibit the rights of the overwhelmingly law-abiding majority of gun owners.

But the Left will keep pushing further. 2020 Democratic candidate Cory Booker has suggested mandating that gun owners turn over their firearms.

And if they don’t? Will they go to jail? Booker refused to say they wouldn’t.

Those in favor of gun control or confiscation never seem to stop and think about what kind of authoritarian power the federal government would have to assume to carry out such a sweeping affront to the Bill of Rights.

Or maybe they have and just don’t care?

The Second Amendment to the Constitution guarantees the right to bear arms to every single American and that is a right no president or politician of either party should ever be able to take away. It is sacrosanct.

Sorry Omar, your fear mongering won’t work. Our Constitution guarantees it.
