Obama Ethics Chief: Says Hunter Biden Art Sales Has ‘Shameful And Grifty Feeling To It’

On Monday, former President Obama’s ethics chief criticized Hunter Biden for selling his art for a half a million dollars and more to anonymous buyers, saying it had a “shameful and grifty feeling to it.”

The former Office of Government Ethics director, Walter Shaub, made his comments to Fox News.

Shaub Criticizes Hunter Biden’s High Price Art

Shaub said, “The notion of a president’s son capitalizing on that relationship by selling art at obviously inflated prices and keeping the public in the dark about who’s funneling money to him has a shameful and grifty feel to it.”

Shaub also said that anonymous buyers could potentially include new ways to secretly send money to the Biden family.

“Just as hotel charges and real estate purchases created a risk of unknown parties funneling money to the Trump family for potentially unsavory purposes, Hunter Biden’s grotesquely inflated art prices create a similar risk of influence-seekers funneling money to the Biden family,” Shaub said.

Shaub: ‘This Smells Like An Attempt To Cash In On A Family Connection To The White House’

“But I also think it’s ridiculous that Hunter Biden is even going forward with this sale as a first-time artist,” Shaub added. “He can’t possibly think anyone is paying him based on the quality of the art.”

Shaub added, “This smells like an attempt to cash in on a family connection to the White House.”

“At a minimum, the president should be asking his son not to go through with this auction.”

The Political Insider reported last week, “Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, is an artist – and it looks like he could be about to rake in a lot of money. The arts news outlet Artnet reported on Monday that this fall, New York City’s George Bergès Gallery will host a solo exhibition of Biden’s art.”

“Getting your hands on a piece of Hunter’s art won’t come cheap,” the report continued.

It also noted,”Biden’s art dealer, George Bergès, said that price tag for the first son’s work will start at $75,000, but larger paintings could go as high as a half million dollars.”
