President Obama Did Not Condemn Racism After Dallas Police Attack

President Trump has been vilified in the media for not directly responding to the Charlottesville riots by labeling it an attack by white supremacists, specifically calling out those who committed violence as racists.

It lies in stark contrast to the reaction President Obama received after the Dallas police massacre in July of 2016.

During that horrific event, Micah Xavier Johnson opened fire during a Black Lives Matter protest deliberately gunning down 5 police officers and injuring nine others.

It was without question a racially motivated attack. Before he was taken down by police, Johnson admitted he “wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.”

Instead of accepting the obvious, Obama placed blame on the shooting, not on the individual, and not on the ideology that motivated him, but rather, he blamed guns.

Even after collecting his thoughts days later at a memorial for the slain police officers, Obama would not condem the racist motivations behind Johnson’s attack or the Black Lives Matter movement in general.

Via the Daily Wire:

In his initial response, Obama, like Trump, did not single out black nationalists or the movement associated with the heinous act. Instead, Obama said that he was “horrified” by the “vicious, calculated and despicable attack on law enforcement.”

When Obama was given more time to address the Dallas massacre at the funeral of the five officers, he not only did not condemn black nationalists or radical Black Lives Matter activists, he used the platform as a way to double down on his gun control agenda, reiterate his claim that systemic racism plagues the criminal justice system, and push for more public investment in minority communities and schools. The media largely fawned over the “Lincolnesque” speech.

Trump’s response to the attack in Charlottesville was far more ‘Lincolnesque’ than Obama ever was.

Not only did Trump call out racists and racist groups by name, he announced an investigation into the attack by his Department of Justice.

Did Obama ever call out Black Lives Matter for inciting the violence in Dallas? In Louisiana? In Ferguson or Baltimore?

Of course not. Instead, he had their leadership as guests in the White House.

Can you imagine if President Trump invited those groups involved in the Charlottesville events to the White House? He would rightfully be slammed for such a despicable gesture.

Obama, however, could do no wrong.

At the funeral service for the Dallas police officers, he actually defended the racist movement that motivated the killer and pointed out that racism is still a problem in law enforcement.

“We have all seen this bigotry in our lives at some point,” Obama told the mourners. “None of us is entirely innocent. No institution is entirely immune. And that includes our police departments. We know this.”

He quantified the killings at best. At worst, he justified them. Which is far worse than what President Trump did in waiting to get his facts straight before making a comment on Charlottesville.
