Obama Also Called Slaves ‘Immigrants’ – Media is Silent

Did anyone else notice that during the 2016 presidential campaign, Ben Carson’s gaffes destroyed him, but Donald Trump’s gaffes seemed to make him stronger?

I suppose part of it had to do with Ben Carson’s status as a neurosurgeon. Who doesn’t like to pretend to themselves that they’re smarter than a neurosurgeon because he made a gaffe here and there? Smug liberals certainly do.

Now, Democrats and the liberal media are losing their minds over Carson referring to slaves as immigrants.

In his first remarks to staff at the department of Housing and Urban Development that he now heads, he stated that “There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-granddaughters, might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”

It might be a silly comment, because it’s not like slaves were exactly choosing to come to America for a better life. But if Democrats and the media are going to fall all over themselves to attack Ben Carson for referring to slaves as “immigrants,” he’s not the only person they need to attack.

Obama made a similar comment during a speech at a Dec. 15, 2015 ceremony for newly naturalized U.S. citizens about the contributions of American immigrants.

Referring to “those of African heritage who had not come here voluntarily,” Obama said they were “immigrants themselves” in “their own way” who had faith they could create a better life for themselves.

“There was discrimination and hardship and poverty,” Obama continued. “But, like you, they no doubt found inspiration in all those who had come before them. And they were able to muster faith that, here in America, they might build a better life and give their children something more.

Watch a side by side of the two comments below:

So, both made a comment that had an identical message, but Obama got a free pass. Probably because conservatives aren’t hysterical and don’t get offended by literally everything.

The only difference is that Carson later clarified his comments, stating that “the slave narrative and immigrant narrative are two entirely different experiences. The two experiences should never be intertwined, nor forgotten, as we demand the necessary progress towards an America that’s inclusive and provides access to equal opportunity for all.”

I look forward to seeing liberals blast Obama after learning of his comment. Unfortunately, I may be dead before I see the outrage actually materialize.
