Nike Reportedly Drops Sneakers Featuring ‘Betsy Ross’ American Flag Because Colin Kaepernick Thinks It’s Racist

Nike has reportedly ditched an American flag-themed sneaker design for the Fourth of July holiday because activist and paid spokesman Colin Kaepernick complained that it was racist.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the sneakers featured what is commonly referred to as the ‘Betsy Ross’ flag, consisting of the stripes seen on the modern version and 13 stars in a circle on the blue canton to represent the original 13 colonies.

“Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured the old version of the American flag,” a spokesperson told the Journal.

But they also note that the move to back out of a sneaker design meant to celebrate the 4th of July, a sneaker that was set to retail at over $140 a pop, was nixed after Kaepernick registered a complaint.

“After images of the shoe were posted online, Mr. Kaepernick, a Nike endorser, reached out to company officials saying that he and others felt the Betsy Ross flag is an offensive symbol because of its connection to an era of slavery, the people said,” according to the WSJ.

“Some users on social media responded to posts about the shoe with similar concerns,” they added. “Mr. Kaepernick declined to comment.”

Why back out now, Colin? You love the attention that crying racism at every turn has brought you – certainly more attention than your waning skills in the NFL would have brought.

Outrage

As with any effort by the left to erase history because they get their shorts in a bunch over having to learn it, outrage on social media was swift.

Blaze TV host Graham Allen wrote, “Can we just for ONE DAY Attempt to be Americans and be PROUD especially during the 4th of July!  The day we became America?!”

“No more @nike sneakers for our family,” Fox News host Laura Ingraham complained.

Kaepernick is your typical leftist and amounts to everything Democrats love – he hates America.

Nike meanwhile, has been doing everything they can to portray the former NFL quarterback as some kind of hero, propping him up as a man who has ‘sacrificed everything.’

He sacrificed nothing. He opted out of a contract with the 49ers to become a free agent, realized he wasn’t going to be signed anywhere else, and sought out the almighty dollar from Nike. He’s a sellout, not a hero

Everyday working-class hero Mike Rowe countered the garbage narrative explaining there are real heroes out there who truly have sacrificed everything.
