‘Never Trump’ Rep. Kinzinger Says He Almost Used His Gun On January 6 Rioters

‘Never Trump’ Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger admitted during an interview for Rolling Stone that he contemplated firing his gun as pro-Trump supporters rioted at the Capitol on January 6th.

Kinzinger made the comments to CNN political commentator S.E. Cupp, who conducted the interview.

Cupp asked the Illinois ‘Republican’ to take her back to events that day, to which Kinzinger unleashed what could easily be mistaken as one of AOC’s therapy sessions on the topic.

The congressman recalled how Trump supporters “sack(ed) the Capitol” and how he tried to warn of the potential for violence days earlier.

After listening to former President Donald Trump’s speech, Kinzinger says he left the certification proceedings and spent “six hours in my office, hunkered down, with my gun out, prepared to defend against my own party.”

Kinzinger Considered Firing His Gun At Protesters

Rep. Adam Kinzinger continued, explaining that there was a point during the Capitol riot in which he was ‘genuinely scared’ because he had a “real sense of evil” about what was happening.

The devout anti-Trumper said he had “barricaded” himself inside his office thinking, “If this is as bad as it seems, they may end up at my office, breaking this crap down, and I may have to do what I can.”

Cupp, another ‘Never Trump’ Republican, then asked if Kinzinger “contemplated having to discharge your firearm on American citizens.”

“Yeah, I thought about it,” he replied adding that if he came face-to-face with the protesters, “they’re going to try to fight and kill me, and I’m not going to let that happen.”

Thought About Using Weapon

Adam Kinzinger’s comments sound a lot like what far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said about that day.

Ocasio-Cortez accused Trump supporters of attempted murder and revealed that she has been in therapy to learn to cope with the “extraordinarily traumatizing” protest.

Kinzinger has been prone to hyperbole in matters of Trump.

It was just weeks ago that he compared Republicans who stand up to Trump to the heroes of Flight 93 who fought back against terrorists on 9/11.

“People have to stand up and say this is wrong,” Kinzinger said. “We’ve got to – if you think about heroics on Flight 93 that saved the Capitol in 2001, it wasn’t Todd Beamer alone.”

The only thing separating Kinzinger from other members of the Squad at this point is lipstick.

He’s not the only one, however.

Senator Lindsey Graham recently admitted to urging police officers to use their guns during the January 6th riot at the Capitol, shouting at them to “take back the Senate!”

“You’ve got guns. Use them,” he told police personnel.

Sheesh. Even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi didn’t get that worked up, suggesting at one point she’d have fought the protesters off with her high heels.

Pelosi suggested the “mob” at the Capitol riots “wanted to kill her.”

“That’s what they were setting out to do,” she replied before adding: “Well, I’m pretty tough. I’m a street fighter. They would have had a battle on their hands.”

Pelosi then joked that she had a weapon at the ready.

“I would have had these,” she said, showing off 4-inch stilettos.

Important to remember that a total of five people died during the Capitol riot, but only unarmed Air Force veteran and avid supporter of former President Trump, Ashli Babbitt was killed.

Good to know that under a small amount of pressure, Graham and Kinzinger were ready to pull the trigger – literally – and create countless other stories just like Babbitt’s.

One has to wonder how Graham and Kinzinger’s desire to shoot unarmed protesters would play out on legacy media if they had suggested doing so during a Black Lives Matter riot last May in Washington, D.C. that forced Secret Service to rush President Trump to an underground bunker out of concerns for his safety.

Trump, to my recollection, never cried about it. He didn’t end up in therapy.

Kinzinger announced recently that he will not seek reelection, just weeks after Democrats in Illinois unveiled a new congressional map that significantly impacted his chances of winning in 2022.

“I also remember during that campaign saying that if I ever thought it was time to move on from Congress, I would, and that time is now,” he said.

The attention-loving congressman has refused to rule out running for higher office.

“I certainly wouldn’t rule out Senate or governor and anything else,” he said. “Maybe, who knows?”
