National Police Association Calls Pelosi’s January 6 Probe A ‘Dog and Pony Show,’ Demands Investigation Of BLM Riots

The National Police Association hammered the Democrats' January 6 probe into the Capitol riot, describing it as a politically motivated "dog and pony show."

The National Police Association hammered Democrats’ January 6 probe into the Capitol riot, describing it as a politically motivated “dog and pony show.”

Association spokeswoman Betsy Brantner Smith told Fox News that testimony from four police officers who defended the Capitol that day was important, but so is testimony from police officers who were injured during last summer’s George Floyd protests.

“People need to see that police officers go through horrible things, and Jan. 6 was a horrible thing for some of those officers,” she said. “But, quite frankly, I find this whole Jan. 6 Commission, frankly, a dog and pony show. It doesn’t tell the whole story.”

Brantner, a retired police sergeant, went on to demand that the American public hear those other stories.

“The 2020 riots, we can’t just say the whole George Floyd thing was bad and that’s what cops have to deal with and then watch these four weeping men talk about their experiences,” she continued.

To do so would be “ignoring thousands and thousands of police officers, ignoring their feelings and their experiences and their injuries.”

National Police Association Blasts Select Committee

Brantner’s comments are not without merit. It isn’t just the National Police Association, it’s the American people that want the Black Lives Matter (BLM) riots investigated with the same fervor.

In fact, they are clamoring more for that investigation than they are House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s partisan select committee.

A recent Rasmussen poll shows that more Americans want the 2020 summer BLM riots investigated (66%) than want an investigation into the Capitol riot (49%).

That’s a landslide.

Well over 2,000 police officers suffered injuries in the line of duty during the 2020 riots.

12 were shot.

Retired police captain David Dorn was murdered in St. Louis while defending a friends store from looters.

David Patrick Underwood was shot dead in Oakland.

Damon Gutzwiller was murdered after an ambush in Santa Cruz.

Does the public know any of their names? If not, why not?

“You know, we have a Las Vegas police officer who is still paralyzed from the Black Lives Matter riots,” Brantner said.

“We have thousands of police officers around the country who are retiring because of post-traumatic stress because of the riots.”

Weeping Men

Earlier this month, Representative Lauren Boebert and ten House Republicans sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding to know why protesters at the Capitol on January 6th are being arrested and jailed for months while many BLM protesters were not.

The letter asked Garland to explain an “inconsistent application of the law with respect to rioters across the country.”

The letter to AG Garland, according to the Daily Mail, notes that prosecutors have signed off on at least a dozen “deferred resolution agreements in federal felony cases” from clashes in last year’s BLM protests.

Only the criminals at the Capitol riot mattered, not those who set buildings on fire and looted numerous businesses in the name of ‘racial justice.’

Pelosi’s panel, which is stocked with Democrats and a pair of anti-Trump “Republicans,” was panned for delivering a display of ‘weeping men’ as Brantner put it.

Not so much involving the compelling testimony provided by the four police officers.

But rather, the waterworks displayed by Representatives Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) and Adam Schiff (D-CA)

A new Politico/Morning Consult survey indicates that while a majority of Americans support the January 6 select committee, that number has dropped 8 points.

Support among independents has dropped a whopping 13 points, meaning not only is the panel itself partisan, but interest in their work is becoming increasingly partisan as well.
