If you think the now 7,000+ member strong caravan of prospective illegal immigrants marching towards the United States wasn’t ideological, you couldn’t be more wrong. While the media is happy to provide cover for the caravan as either “refugees” or “people seeking a better life” (who isn’t?), the fact of the matter is that they’re economic migrants who would readily vote for the same kind of economic policies that doomed their home countries. If you don’t believe me, just listen to the migrants in their own words.
“Donald Trump is the anti-christ” said one of the caravan migrants to CNN. “If he doesn’t repent, he’s going to hell. We are not criminals, we are workers and fighters!” Watch below (relevant part starts at 0:24):
Certainly an interesting take. If the USA is run by the anti-Christ, why the hell aren’t they marching in the opposite direction (or building a border of their own)?
It goes without saying that Democrats, who sympathize with these migrants, definitely don’t want the American public seeing this video. It undermines their plight and is insulting to many Americans.
This is hardly the first time I’ve seen this bizarre sort of thinking on full display. It’s not uncommon to see people waving Mexican flags at anti-Trump rallies, and a number of the caravan migrants are waving around Honduran flags. In other words, people who don’t want to go back to Mexico are waving around Mexican flags, and people fleeing Honduras are waving around Honduran flags. Could that make any less sense?
In addition to the economic problems these 7,000 migrants would bring if allowed in, there are serious national security concerns as well. In Guatemala’s largest newspaper, their President Jimmy Morales claimed that nearly 100 ISIS terrorists had been apprehended in his country. Though there was no specific indication that they were part of the caravan, an open border does give a perfect method to terrorists looking to enter the U.S. undetected. If the reports are true, they’re hardly the only foreigners hoping to sneak into the U.S.. Univision confirmed that there were Bangladesh migrants in the herd too.
In response to the incoming hoard of migrants, Trump has stepped up his threats against the Latin American countries they’re passing through to reach the U.S.. Having already cut their aid this year, Trump threatened to cut all foreign aid to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. He’s also threatened military action at the border, and promised that “Anybody entering the United States illegally will be arrested and detained, prior to being sent back to their country!”
As we reported earlier, last time a migrant caravan with thousands attempted to trek to the U.S.-Mexico border, only 130 actually reached the border, and zero were accepted as asylum seekers. This time, it’s doubtful any will reach the border.
