Michigan Restauranteur Arrested For Breaking Whitmer’s Pandemic Rules Demands Governor Be Jailed For Violating

Last Saturday, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) was caught on camera breaking her own COVID-19 rules when she was photographed at a bar in East Lansing with around a dozen friends.

This blatantly violated her May 15 order that she signed banning indoor dining at restaurants by parties of six or more and by groups of people who “intermingle.”

Michigan Restaurant Owner Sounds Off

Michigan pizzeria owner Marlena Pavlos-Hackney, who was previously arrested and fined for violating Whitmer’s COVID-19 restrictions, is now speaking out to call for the governor to be jailed and fined as well.

Pavlos-Hackney told Fox News on Tuesday that Whitmer is a “servant” for the people who should let Michiganders make their own decisions about their health, rather than forcing them to follow her orders.

“I feel like all of us should be on the same page,” she said. “If I have to face penalties which I went through — which was … handcuffs, shackles, four nights in jail, fined $15,000 — I think she should face the same penalties.”

“We the people, we [are] all equal. It does not matter [that] because you’re the governor, we need to forgive you,” she continued. “Treat us with dignity and respect — and equally. We [are] all equal, we the people.”

Whitmer Has Done This Before

Robert Baker, Pavlos-Hackney’s attorney, pointed out that Whitmer had been caught breaking her own coronavirus restrictions before, saying that “you can never underestimate the arrogance and hypocrisy of power.”

“She violated the law, so her own gatherings and face mask order make those violations, each one of them, a crime, a misdemeanor punishable up to six months in prison and $200 fine for each individual infraction,” Baker said.

He went on to add that they are appealing the case against Pavlos-Hackney and “planning a federal lawsuit within the next couple of weeks related to this.”

Whitmer Defends Herself

Whitmer tried to defend her actions this past weekend by saying that she and her friends “didn’t stop to think about” what they were doing.

“I am human. I made a mistake, and I apologize,” she added.

Two days later, Whitmer lifted the restriction that she had been caught breaking, claiming that the rule change had been in the works before her scandal, even though she had just updated it a week ago.
