Michelle Obama claims she isn’t running for president in 2020 because her path “has never been politics” and she doesn’t especially like being political.

Sorry, but The Political Insider’s truth-detection meter nearly exploded over the sheer falsity in Michelle Obama’s statement. Mrs. Obama may feign apathy when it comes to her political role, but she’s always been a cunning political operator. And she hasn’t been shy about it.
As part of her book tour, the former First Lady visited the Lower Eastside Girls Club in Manhattan. Here, she was asked about her political ambitions.

A beaming Obama was greeted by delighted squeals from 30 girls before the group struck up a conversation and shared bowls of farro and veggies.
“You can ask anything! I am ready,” Obama told the kids.
“How come you didn’t run for president?” one of them said.

She went on to say with a laugh, “I don’t wanna be president! … My path has never been politics. I just happened to marry somebody whose passion was politics. Just because he likes it doesn’t mean that I like it!”

For someone who doesn’t like being political, Michelle Obama sure asserted her political will while in the White House. From imposing draconian school lunch regulations (RELATED: Schools Want to Ditch Michelle Obama’s ‘Healthy’ Lunch Regulations.) to pushing more free-education initiatives, Michelle Obama wasn’t exactly a shiftless First Lady. In fact, she was quite active.
Not only that, but Michelle Obama has been active politically since leaving the White House. She spearheaded a “non-partisan” voter registration outlet that just happened to be staffed by Democrats. She’s also been vocally critical of the Trump administration – something you never saw from Laura Bush when the Obamas were pushing their radical transformational agenda. Any fair-minded observer saw during Michelle Obama’s eight years in the White House, and the couple of years she’s been out, that she actually loved her role as First Lady. Michelle Obama loves the political spotlight. Any assertion otherwise of her humility is a lie.
