One Day After Trump’s Executive Order, Major City Drops Sanctuary City Policy

It took all of 24 hours for the mayor of Miami-Dade to get in line with President Trump’s new executive order regarding sanctuary cities.

Trump signed the order allowing the Attorney General to cut federal funding to any cities engaged in the practice of providing sanctuary to illegal immigrants.

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Giménez received the message loud and clear, ordering all county jails to comply with federal immigration detainment requests.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez said the county will comply with Trump’s executive order forcing all so-called “sanctuary cities” to turn over undocumented immigrants who are arrested.

Trump signed an executive order that says sanctuary cities will lose their federal funding if they continue to deny federal requests to hold arrested immigrants.

The President took notice of Gimenez’ smart decision in complying with the new attitude toward illegal immigration and an emphasis on border security.

Howard Simon, Executive Director of the Florida chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, blasted the Miami-Dade mayor’s decision, saying that it “flies in the face of Miami’s long history as a city of immigrants” and predicting it will “drive a wedge of distrust between law enforcement and our immigrant community.”

Simon intentionally left out the word “illegal” before the word “immigrant,” demonstrating that the left deliberately tries to conflate legal and illegal immigration.

If you’re here illegally, a law was broken. If you’re here illegally, you’re not an American citizen. And if illegal immigrants ‘distrust’ law enforcement as Simon says, it’s because they’ve broken federal law by violating our sovereign borders.

Kate Steinle was killed last year by a man who was deported five times. Who, despite a request by ICE to hold him, was released by the San Francisco sheriff’s department specifically because they are a sanctuary city.

Law breakers like that should be wary.

Even more so under a President who respects the rule of law.
